The Golden Globes just went after white people all night long, and we're the ones who are obsessed with identity politics? What about the nothingburger guy from CNN? He called the election a "whitelash".

It was a whitelash, I.e. a political event based on identity. Identity politics. Your focus on race and gender proves his point.

Then how come most African Americans didn't come out to vote for Hillary but came out ten fold for Obama?

Tenfold has a meaning; Obama didn't get 10X the black votes as Hillary. Those who did turn out voted for her in roughly the same proportion, and her smaller vote total reflects losses among all races.

So which Democratic politicians are scapegoating white people? It's a reason for you to not vote democratic so surely you must have a ton of examples and not just be able to pull one or two out of the ether when you get pushed far enough on this question that you have to put up or shut up.

Question: Why does nobody talk about Obama being half white?

Conservatives do this all the time. Obama's "half-white" status has no meaning given historical context in the United States. At no point have mixed people gotten half-credit; Obama is treated as black, and would have been throughout history. That may change in the future, but pretending it has already is willfully ignorant.

During his presidency people would remind us that Obama was half-white for all sorts of arguments. Maybe to say he is not truly the first black president.
Often to suggest he isn't the common black man and thus common black people shouldn't like him or something like this.

Seriously though, I thought Obama was the better candidate at the time. Looking back, he wasn't an awesome president, but he definitely wasn't the worst. The ACA was a mess that screwed middle class workers, but other than that I can't really point to anything bad he did legislatively. Honestly, the biggest problems with the ACA were the Employer Mandate and the fact that it was literally the dream plan the insurance companies had. It literally put insurance company profit ahead of public health.

But honestly, I would vote for a Democrat again if I felt they were the better candidate, even if I disagree with them on a lot of issues. Just like I will vote for a Republican despite disagreeing with them on a lot of issues.

I feel the same way about voting for obama, but if I makes you feel any better, Romney and McCain were just as bad. McCain was worse than obama, imo, and we simply weren't given good choices.

I did the same thing. I like to vote for the better candidate...Maybe for some, issues like abortion/religion dictate them to always vote Republican, but that mindset is really stupid. People are gonna do stupid things, and unless Roe v Wade is over-turned, not much I can do to stop it.

I was very much against Hillary from her illegal activities. I didn't believe it was right that she rigged the DNC, held confidential gov't emails on a private server, and screwed up the Benghazi incident and was walking around like she was the greatest thing since sliced bread.

I admit I made my choice the moment I walked into the booth. Not to mention the fact that she offered no platform or ideas to the table. I knew voting third party was pointless...so....

I knew with how obstructive and uncompromising Republicans are that Obama wouldn't be able to do much when the Democrats lost the majority. But he was by far the best president of my lifetime.

Obama's plan was very appealing to us who were against GWB's "war on terror" - he promised to back out responsibly and to start national healthcare. It was very progressive and a breath of fresh air. Ultimately, I think his second term was crap, and his idea didn't go too well, but it was a novel concept and idea.

they don't want to go bankrupt when they have a major health issue

So why do people support the ACA if they don't want to go bankrupt when they have a major health issue? o.O

Because while it's not perfect there are out-of-pocket limits which is better than no limit.

plus, the ACA saves many people from literally going bankrupt (as opposed to just becoming impoverished) due to medicaid expansion which has much stronger financial protections than private insurance

well, the cost-sharing protections go up to 250% of the FPL, which is something like ... 30k for an individual, maybe twice that for a family of four?
