I don't think it was a matter of everybody did so much as Rod Serling did >_> iirc, even other 1950s and 60s shows pronounced it as we do today.

That's how Spider-Man pronounced it on the 1980s series that ran parallel to "Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends". I always thought that was weird.
