BotW is good, not great. I own both games, and don't have a horse in this race, but it wasn't really anything special beyond being "the first new Zelda in a while." The world feels unfinished and lifeless.

Can't say anything about Persona, because I've only played one and it wasn't this one. But that's how I would describe Zelda. Unless you describe every Zelda like that...

Really? Persona 5 just felt like another Persona game with a different story, fresh coat of paint and different music (and some incredibly mind numbingly boring dungeons. Good lord were they boring). Otherwise it was just the exact same game (kinda like Pokemon).

I didn't vote for any of the games on today's poll, as none of them were called Horizon Zero Dawn.

average jane watching the big bang theory isn't going to know persona exists because it's not advertised there, if it even had any tv commercials in america.

meanwhile nintendo just threw tv ads everywhere for the switch, and featured zelda as the big game to have, so little jimmy sees it and tells his mom he wants that, and since she'll have some vague idea that nintendo is the console for kids, he gets it for his birthday/christmas/whatever.

but big sister weeb janet over there just looks on in disgust as she watches little jimmy freak the shit out over getting a switch, while she logs into PSN and puts in her new giftcard code and buys persona 5 with it, because rather trying to explain it to her parents about what a game they've never seen or heard about, with weird terminology, she just asked for a giftcard.

I like the story above. And I guess that could be true, too. Though, I knew about it because I also work with a bunch of gamers. Well, at one of my jobs. And I play lots of games. Including one Persona game. I also like JRPGs. So, it's makes sense I would know of it. Even if others don't. Still not sure about the objectively better, though.

BotW winning poll yesterday, and now today, I don't understand how Switch is voted best console of the year. NintenFAQs must be true lol. Inferior hardware, small selection of games, mobile is better for portability (and features), and still overpriced for what it offers. Neither BoTW or Odyssey are game changers. By that I mean they're a generation (if not older) behind everyone else in the industry. They might be big for Nintendo, from an industry standpoint it's last gen tech/formulaic sequel again. (To be fair I've been salty since they regressed back from Twilight Princess quality for realism.)

I'm a Nintendo fan, been buying their products since I can remember, but the Switch isn't enough to redeem Nintendo from the Wii U/new 3DS/new 2DS cash grab, certainly not any of their games. Just waiting for Switch HD or Switch U announcement now, might as well milk your fans when you have them.

I'm having fun with my switch. And most people that have one seem to also be happy. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it sucks. So, it makes sense it's winning.

I mean I don't own a Switch and voted PS4 myself but I can understand why The Switch would win the poll very easy. The PS4 and Xbox One despite their minor upgraded systems have been out for years.

In fact, by objective measures, BotW is better than Persona 5. Now if you subjectively believe Persona 5 is better, then that is fine.
