Teacher Deyshia Hargrave was questioning the school board how they can vote to give the superintendent a raise when school employees have not gotten a raise in years. Security officer from the parish Marshals Office told her to leave the room and he would soon arrest her in the hall and call the city police and put her in a patrol unit.

Well at least it's going viral. I'm sure what the superintendent's going to face now isn't going to be worth the $38,000 pay raise. That goes double for the $20 tip the guard was probably getting.

It's been happening for decades, sadly. Take a man from a poor black family and offer him a great salary to take a job in which he's tasked with oppressing other minorities, and very often he will take it.

It looks pretty bad, but she went about it the wrong way.

When you're in an open panel like this, it's not the time to bring up this kind of stuff because it creates a disturbance and you can get kicked out (or arrested in this case). I wouldn't be surprised if she actually does get charged with something.

The proper way to go about it would've been to submit something in writing in advance. But bringing this up out of the blue like that was just not the way to do it. It sounds off topic and it could be seen as trying to sabotage the assembly.

I'm not saying it's right what happened to her... it's not... I'm just saying that's what always happens when someone brings up something controversial about the people on a panel during this kind of discussion.

I've seen something like this in a city hall meeting in a small Quebec town. Everyone took turns at the mic to ask questions. Then there was an old man who asked a controversial question that, basically, was disguised accusation of corruption. He asked the exact same question at a previous meeting but was shut down. So basically he asked the same question at two meetings in a row. He was arrested in front of everybody and taken out.

There are ways to bring up these kind of things. But to bring them up in public like that, what happens is exactly what you see in the video. You get arrested.

But he deserved it for the teachers hard work!

They managed to get the children more educated, whilst having larger classes, so he needs to be shown the recognition he deserves for their work.

I don't think she broke any law, but sometimes people get imaginative with those mental gymnastics. Like people being charged with resisting arrest... what the hell does resisting arrest even mean?

All I'm saying is, when there's a corrupt system out there, it's just dangerous to stand up to it by yourself. What that lady did was brave but it was dangerous.

What happened to her was super wrong but it was predictable.

I read she was brought in and booked but not arrested. She was charged for not leaving the premises and got out for $900.

She was leaving when they took her away, though.

Yes, but my point is... what do you have to do to get charged with resisting arrest? It's really vague. There are a lot things that people can get charged with that sound like a strict thing on paper but in practice it's hard to understand what it really means. That's why I wouldn't be surprised if she gets charged (unfairly) with something. Like, for example, someone (not me!) might argue that she was trying to incite a riot.

Idk man I've never heard of something like this happening before. Even if she was wrong to bring that up at that time, which hasn't even been proven to be true yet, there's absolutely no way anyone can argue that her being arrested was anything other than a complete miscarriage of Justice.

And I'm assuming you don't actually think she has a chance of being charged with anything, since there's no law she even came close to breaking.

Anything she wrote would've been filed away into oblivion.

This approach (which was incredibly civil) got people to actually listen to her.

Even though they still voted to renew the superindentent's contract with the raise, which is a joke.

Hopefully this story has an impact, although I'm pessimistic enough to doubt it will.
