Nah. I still only game at 1080p because 1) most games still are not 4K-compatible and I would rather play at the monitor's native resolution, and 2) it's difficult to find a 4K monitor with a high refresh rate and low response time without paying a premium on top of a premium for it.

What games have you been playing? Like every game released for the past 4 years has 4k res apart from indie games

Got my PC hooked up to a regular 1080p monitor and my 4k LG 55" TV. Fifa and 2K18 both look incredible on it. I want to try my shooters on it but they suck with a controller and I don't have a wireless mouse/keyboard.

When we come to upgrade we'll probably get one because they've came down a lot in price in the last year or so. But my 9 year old Sony Bravia is still going strong and has never had a problem - I bought it before my now wife and I even moved in together!

I purchased a 4k tv when my Panasonic Plasma bit the dust. I dont play many games on it though because my PC isnt currently capable of running most modern games at 4k 60fps. The input lag is also pretty staggering compared to my 1080p 144hz monitor. Movies and shows in 4k HDR look incredible though.

No, not at the moment. I'm possibly moving this year so I don't really want to get another tv before then. Plus I don't have either of the "4k" consoles or a 4k bluray player.

I moved about 2 years ago and my old living room tv was too small for my new living room. If youre going to buy a new tv anyway and can afford it you might as well imo. It looks beautiful.

1080p is still better for gamers imo. 1080p monitors have the capacity to spoil gamers with refresh rates and response times that 4K monitors aren't very capable of yet. I'm not even sure if there's a graphics card that can support the more demanding games at 4K, 144 Hz.

4K will get there eventually, but the tech isn't there yet to justify it as a gaming monitor over a 1080p or 1440p with otherwise better specs.

Yep. 1440p is probably the best monitor size for gaming right now, for exactly the point you mentioned -- you can get refresh rates up to 240 Hz and much better color range than you can on a 4K monitor without spending a fortune. And practically, there isn't really much difference between 4K and 1440p at the display sizes most people use.

I remember when people were calling 1080p a gimmick now everyone has at least a 1080p tv and is now treating 4K like its a gimmick.

The average consumer is a jackass.
