amusingly he's not the best at his own TMR. Tidus, Demon Rain, probably even Randi are better with it. but Tidus is the standout.

either way, once you get a source of TDH you may want to look at one of your Setzer as Fixed Dice is the main combo with it that does obscene damage - easily outdoing DW on some.

enhanced Demon Rain has native 150% TDH. with one of the TDH TMRs, that's bumped to 250%. standard DH would hit the 300% damage cap, though you'd miss out on the benefits fixed dice gives. though if you lack Setzer, okay.

bear in mind, that may make him lose some tankiness depending how you build him. he's a pretty ridiculous counter tank with it but if you want constant damage dealing, Cloud would prob be better. he's good! and fanboyism may have you keep him in your team. but if you wanna use his TMR elsewhere, there's a number of people out there. basically:

if it's a character that attacks + imperials -> another attack (Fryevia, Aileen, Orlandeau)? DW build generally wins.
if it's a character using a separate imperial? TDH is on par, TDH with FD is superior.

build what you want accordingly.
personally i'm also looking at the magic DH game that just opened with this event.

and ganon's right, Garland is legit impressive with it. dude can hit 1200+ attack and hit like a goddamn truck.

indeed, they do stack. main difference is 2 handed weapons. TDH loves them, DH doesn't work on them. so for units like Olive, TDH does bring her back into the meta a bit. before we got TDH she maxed at 175% (Sparky's 50%, natural DH is 75%, Bartz TMR is 50%). with TDH she shoots up hard and is close to the 300% cap. Garland's a good choice for the same reason - enhanced Garland is a native 125% DH, the same as Olive with Sparky.

both are probably the only two major examples with a very good build with it though. for most others they'll want two handed weapons as they've a variance of 1.0-1.6 damage, so on average you're doing 1.3x the numbers you see. it's why Fixed Dice builds fit with it, that raises the variance to 150-650% on top of that, so you're effectively doing 3-4x "normal" damage on average.

So, after a nice 6-day break, I feel like I can get into the game again.

Did some test runs with Malboro (need more rikku limits and more hp for WoL...and probably more MAG for Christine)and with Bloody Moon (doable with TT to overcome the ice mob...just need to time it so I don't get pwned by meteor moon just after tanking the AoE Death). Ice Bird is lol cause I have no non-Ice physical chainers.

Really tempted to start TM farming to get what I need but nah, not invested enough at the moment.

Also, dailies and 4 tix were trash so /shrug

Olive has consistently, persistently, stayed relevant in the meta through all the changes we've had. she keeps being just shy of being in the top tier conversation but if her enhancements to DH resemble Demon Rain's (50% DH -> 150% TDH), she's gonna shoot to the top quick. Garland would be less so (50% DH -> 125% DH) but that'd still be enough to hit the cap with ease. that said she's coming in with a native 75% DH so i'm not sure what they'll do to that. since Sparky's still a one handed weapon, ideally a bonus that'd let her have some sort of variance to those too.

and i of course look forward to an easier time to spam the fuck out of her LB.

...so he'll be a provoke tank who'll easily hit 8k HP without trying, has an 18 crystal LB that's a 30% damage reduction for 2 turns and a +30% fill rate, counters magic or physical damage 50% of the time, and has a native +20% evade to both physical and magic. oh, and he's guaranteed to survive a hit if he's got more than 10% of his HP the first time.

I was going to question using DW instead of Genji, but then I remembered that she's hitting the 300% passive cap and the straight +20 will give more of a boost. She ends up with 110% in passives like TT, doesn't she?

and you can only get a rat tail from the shadow bahamuts
but there is only one shadow bahamut per exploration
and it can be in multiple places in that exploration
and it's not even guaranteed to drop

and if that's all true, to minimize my pain, what team should I bring to that fight once I get there

easiest way to beat bahamut is ohko him. bring a mage with Ring of the Lucii or a Zyrus with 850+ MAG (either one should have draco spike if you have it), along with an SPR breaker (ideally 50% or more), two chainers and a MAG buffer.

buff, debuff, chain and cap with either alterna or zyrus's limit break.

enhanced delita is best for debuff, he's at 65%.
9S is 50%, Timithy has a 50% as well
beyond that, Noctis's Thunder Flask is 45%, that may be your best bet if you don't have any of those three.

Fry is fine for chaining.

Minfilia has a 100% MAG buff

No Delita, do have a 9S but unleveled. Noctis is main team so I'll just use him.

Do have a leveled Minfilia.

Looks like TTerra, Noctis, Minfilia, Fryx2... once I finally get a rat tail... and finally get to the summit (I have to be close).

make sure you have a rat tail in one of your inventory slots before you go to the summit, otherwise you will have just wasted the energy for the stage like I did 3 times

There are multiple shadow Bahamut spread all over the place. However no guarantee you get a rat tail.

Use the map of sightings.

I thought at most one could spawn per exploration area? Or does each spot have a separate chance of spawn?

Each sub area spawn one at least, but since you can walk around all of them in one go you have a shot to use less energy. (But ambushes can mess with you. And it takes time without a Hayate.

With Fryevia, you don't even need a breaker. I had to go through and take him down twice because I was trying to get one of the sub-missions that was bugged. When she doesn't kill him first turn, Megaflare wasn't able to take her down from full HP, I shall not lose, Rikku's limit reraise, and another I shall not lose.
