Pretty interesting. Very surreal to think that anything like this could actually become a reality

Yeah I feel pretty lucky to maybe be able to see the before and after in my lifetime.
All we have to do is not fuck anything up and keep giving STEM majors money and we're home free as a species!

The arrogance in that article is baffling. We've had men thousands of years ago tell the future, walk on water and survive scorching furnaces and it's all thanks to the power of God. Of course the author of that article knows nothing of history for he is a liberal, yet has the audacity to compare these new supercomputers to the boss himself. Liberal logic is this: We can't purify ourselves to be holy for we love sin. We will build machines to do it for us, meanwhile get rich by hogging money that should be used to help the poor and needy. The difference between left and right way of thinking is night and day. That article reminds me of something I would read in high school before I learned about God like zeitgeist, but would help me in no way whatsoever.

What makes you think that God isnt just a super AI that paradoxically creates mankind and is then eventually created itself by humans?

Ironic that you call the indulgent musing of the article arrogant while failing to recognize the arrogance of insisting that your own belief structure supercedes all other possibility.

Consciousness is what constitutes a living being, and all living beings have a piece of God in them, then they return to the spirit from whence they came. Humans are unable to create consciousness except through reproduction, or else the newly created consciousness would become a living being and would need to be classified as an animal. The article claims that modern ai is slightly smarter than an ant but I doubt it, but please prove me wrong if you can for learning's sake.

Amazing how you believe you know the secrets of the universe because you read it in an ancient cult book that promotes slavery rape and ownership of women, and then have the nerve to call other people arrogant.

It almost seems like you want to start burning books.

Where in the bible does it promote slavery, rape and ownership of women? Did Jesus do any of those things? The bible is a piece of Jewish and Christian history, so of course those three things happened throughout the history of the world. This is reality, not a fairy tale.

Deuteronomy 22:28-29 NAB

If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her.

Deuteronomy 20:10-14

As you approach a town to attack it, first offer its people terms for peace. If they accept your terms and open the gates to you, then all the people inside will serve you in forced labor. But if they refuse to make peace and prepare to fight, you must attack the town. When the LORD your God hands it over to you, kill every man in the town. But you may keep for yourselves all the women, children, livestock, and other plunder. You may enjoy the spoils of your enemies that the LORD your God has given you.

Deuteronomy 22:23-24 NAB

If within the city a man comes upon a maiden who is betrothed, and has relations with her, you shall bring them both out of the gate of the city and there stone them to death: the girl because she did not cry out for help though she was in the city, and the man because he violated his neighbors wife.

Judges 5:30 NAB

They must be dividing the spoils they took: there must be a damsel or two for each man, Spoils of dyed cloth as Siseras spoil, an ornate shawl or two for me in the spoil.

Leviticus 25:44-46 NLT

However, you may purchase male or female slaves from among the foreigners who live among you. You may also purchase the children of such resident foreigners, including those who have been born in your land. You may treat them as your property, passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance. You may treat your slaves like this, but the people of Israel, your relatives, must never be treated this way.

Exodus 21:20-21 NAB

When a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod so hard that the slave dies under his hand, he shall be punished. If, however, the slave survives for a day or two, he is not to be punished, since the slave is his own property.

Damn this was some heavy religious shit I couldn't help but read this in a redneck southern voice. If the technological singularity happens it will be the most ridiculous event in the history of mankind. Walking on water is a parlor trick in comparison to how far technology would leap in the course of a few days.

Keep loving your bible bro, but as humanity advances ever forward people overall value that stuff less and less. If we rolled the clock back to the dark ages religion was basically everything to everyone, and these days that is not the case. In fact I will go so far to say that the technological singularity is about the only thing that would get us out of the huge problems the earth is facing in the next 40-50 years.

Those were the old laws made by God for the jews. Notice how you only quoted the Torah? I am a Christian, not a Jew. Torah is history of the Jews and for Jews only. The New Testament is for everyone. Show me anywhere in the NT where it promotes slavery, rape and ownership of women.

The only way to fix society's problems is to stop liberal agenda. Jail white collar criminals and replace them with people who are moral. Stop wasting money trying to not look racist and feed your starving war vets ffs. Stop globalism and increase nationalism. Make peace with your neighbour instead of worrying about why people thousands of miles away can't support themselves. These are all things liberals just won't understand because they have no recollection of real history, only theories they made up.

As a former Catholic, I don't think you know much about Christianity. I'm not sure you've even picked a denomination.

I may be a little rusty, but last I heard "fuck the old testament" isn't a common teaching among Christianity these days.

Christianity: Founded on Judaism, accepts Old Testament beliefs with the addition of the New Testament.
Judaism: The same thing except they reject the New Testament.

I didn't say that, but there is a difference in that the OT is from the point of view of God's chosen people who failed time and time again to uphold the Ten Commandments. So when Jesus came to the world, he eased the impossible burden and instead told us to love God and each other. But even that is too hard a commandment for most people.

Either you're trying to trick me, or you're dim. I believe both to be true, but I know context which you clearly don't. I don't believe the Ten Commandments are possible to uphold lifelong especially nowadays, and history has proven this to be true.

So does it make me a genius that I already knew and predicted everything in the article as well as the roughly 2040 time frame myself? I honestly don't see how more people don't see this as inevitable. I feel like you have to be kind of dumb to not see how fast we're advancing and observe what's going on in fields like A.I and have no clue where were headed. Its like people think we're going to stop advancing or something when everything points to exponential growth

He said this for man, God does not fornicate. If a man rapes a woman, which is not advised, then he must marry the woman and compensate the disgraced father. What's wrong with that? And again, this is all from the Torah and I'm Christian, dummy.

Nothing, but there is something wrong with rape victims being forced to marry their rapist... which you literally just said you saw no issue with.

minervo posted...
What's wrong with that?

Also, do you want me to dig up dirt on the New Testament? That's a little harder, but here you go

Revelation 2:2223

Beware, I am throwing her on a bed, and those who commit adultery with her I am throwing into great distress, unless they repent of her doings; and I will strike her children dead. And all the churches will know that I am the one who searches minds and hearts, and I will give to each of you as your works deserve.

- (How to deal with a female false prophet (rape her, kill her children))

Matthew 5:17

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

- (Jesus implies the Old Testament is still relevant.)

Matthew 8:32

And he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine: and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters.

- (Jesus is a dick to pigs)

Matthew;
10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.
10:37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

- (Pretty peaceful guy with a real peaceful message)

Matthew ect;
Insert a million verses about Jesus sending the non-believers to hell. Not limbo... hell.

Matthew 6:11

And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

- (Jesus says cities that weren't lucky enough to hear about him will be destroyed.)

Mark;
7:9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.(7:9-10) "And he [Jesus] said unto them ... Ye reject the commandment of God ... For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death."
7:10 For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death:

- (Jesus condones parents who don't kill their disobedient children according to the Old Testament)
