-If both users pick the same team, and are wrong -- whoever did NOT lock will advance. If both or neither locked, then the tiebreaker will be decided by whoever picked the lowest spread that still wins. Just now looking at this topic today, so sorry if I'm missing what this is in direct reference to, but locks do come in before the spread tiebreaker. The spread tiebreaker is used for both people picking the wrong team (but only when either both locked, or both did not lock). WweJth posted... Personally, because the quick explanation on both incorrect states: While it was a mistake to not include the "and by how much" in the quick explanation, Ashethan also said to ask him any questions if there was confusion that needed clearing up, and I specifically asked him how picking the amount of points factors in, and he clarified it in his post before any of the games were played. I'll admit maybe it gets a bit hairy in that perhaps people sent their picks in earlier in the week than that question was answered without looking back at the topic, but also in Ashethan's defense, the full rules do state that "and by how much" factors in before locks. Edit: Though, I'm just now looking back at the time stamps, and it looks like my question about it was answered within 24 hours of the topic being posted, so I'm not sure how many people would have sent their picks in that early. ... Not sure how much value locking actually has with the rules the way they are. It seems detrimental to ever lock if it kills you on a loss but means almost nothing on a win (worthless unless you pick the exact same confidence number). Feels like something that is better off augmented or simply abolished.
The full rules say that the lock means nothing and Ashe advances but I think the rule itself needs a look before next week. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Feels like something that is better off augmented or simply abolished. Locking is meant to skip any further tiebreakers. I mean if you pick Jets by 7, and you're closer... you advance without any tiebreakers being involved anyway. There is a bit of a disparity between risk/reward, but there's sort of supposed to be. You're only supposed to lock when you're absolutely sure. (though it doesn't mean a loss, as long as the spread wins it -- as written in the official rules at least.) It's something I'm certainly considering abolishing for next season. (I can abolish it this season if all players remaining in the playoffs agree to it, out of the interest of fairness.) Last season the Lock was an even lower level tiebreaker. (9th level). I'm not sure if that was better or worse. It did mitigate the risk, but the reward was extremely small) Not sure of a replacement tiebreaker (9 seems like a good number to make sure seeding doesn't determine the winner). Maybe something like: "Pick a Receiver" and whichever receiver gets more yards wins the tiebreaker. --- Growing up, I wish some teacher told me "You probably won't ever need this, but if you don't learn it, you might miss out on something really cool." ... I was under the impression that tiebreakers were of descending importance and that the second was basically a subset of the first one, meaning that if you overestimated the spread, as andel did, a lock would be worthless.
To sum that up, I assumed that Ashe won. --- KCF can't actually be a real person but he is - greengravy http://i.imgur.com/VfpY7tg.jpg ... Copied to Clipboard!

Well, if andel thinks I've been fair and says he understood the rules, then I advance. (I will explicit about rules in the future to avoid this scenario in the future)
