too true. too often have to read wiki to find things, even the guide doesn't really help sometimes because you can only see one branch of a crafting tree for example.

not that it helps, but if you're on PC try a mod like Thorium, it adds a lot to the game (tho you will probs have to use thorium wiki more)

I really like Starbound. Is there a reason to pick up Terraria if I've already got that? I like flying around exploring different planets, and Terraria is just one planet, right?

Starbound is better, but if you can get it cheap and you like that type of game Terraria is great.

And yeah, Terraria is one planet.

I don't understand people saying Starbound is better. Half the 'game' is just going around scanning dumb shit.

I don't even remember building, mining, or doing anything like that. The only good part of the game is right at the beginning. After you've visited like three planets, you realize they're all pretty much the same. It's like No Man's Sky but somehow more boring.

What? That's the whole game. I thoroughly enjoy strip-mining new planets to feed my space station and (with mods) ship construction.

After you've visited like three planets, you realize they're all pretty much the same.

Frackin' Universe. You see tons of variety in the base game, but FU really ups it tremendously.

I'm not arguing Starbound is better because I haven't played Terraria. I'm just saying that Starbound is great. Excellent base game and tons of amazing mods.

Different strokes for different folks. I like Terraria a lot, but Starbound is the better game imho

I definitely prefer the gameplay mechanics in Starbound but to me it's one of those games where you get to a certain point and there's absolutely no reason to continue playing.

I like the variety in Terraria but I just don't have patience to learn all the tips/strategies/secrets. Factorio is another game like this.

Yar, Terraria is a lot better than starbound....but that's more of an objective fact than an opinion

I don't think I have the sever things anymore to just leave it running. And I usually play it at odd times and for not that long of stretches.

Currently I'm just having fun mining XD

I like to see newly created worlds fer sure

I had a ton of fun with the game like 2-ish years ago. I loved that they had an invasion mechanic but I was disappointed that it wasn't more fleshed out.

Any word on when Terraria Otherworld is coming out?

Because of this topic, I went and started up the game only to realize it was christmas time still and I could get 2 more achievements that I hadn't been able to get before in the game, woo :)

What I like doing most is exploring XD I liked digging deep into the mines and finding crap. The last time I played I got me some flippers so I can swim!!!! I hate Expert Mode Skeletron....

The trick to this is to combine it with other things. If you set up things like farming generators, they are something you can include in it.

Also, there's tricks with the clentaminator with switching quickly. And of course, knowing good bait to get is always helpful.

Oh, and this is usually not a problem. If you ever see me in Terraria just lemme know and I should just tell you how to join, (password XD)

From now on I'll use the multiplayer function so I don't have to exit out of single player and load up multiplayer.

I do wish it had an optional progression limitation system or something. Like, for example, when it's toggled, you can't use certain items past a point. So if you haven't beaten Eye of Cthulu in the current world yet, you can't use things that would be OP. In pre-hard mode this would basically be just disabling hard mode items. Especially weapons.
