My cat got one of thode treat dispensers where you hit it and thr treats come out.

It is actually suppossed to get them to exercise, but he could probably gain a pound or two. He only weighs about 3-4 pounds iirc.

ooh nice. i had to buy ernie a new hedgehog because the original one i adopted him with is real ratty. but we still kept the original because he finds it comforting sometimes.

Hmm.....I don't think animals are equivalent to humans. However, in my family, we treat our pets more than just mere animals.

We treat them more akin to family; as far as the human-pet relationship can define that.

That means we care for our pet's physiological needs. We are attentive to their needs (and sometimes their whims), show affection and gauge their moods. Animals, to a certain extent, resemble humans too. They feel and are subject to mood swings. They probably can feel basic emotions too.

Like everything else in this world that's alive and sentient, we treat our pets with love, care and respect.

I had her for 15 years since she was a puppy. I still keep expecting to see her when i walk by the sliding glass door.

aw at least she lived a long life. poor pup. i'm really not looking forward to ernie passing away. he just turned 12 in august.

That is kind of sad to me. I understand your point about treating a pet like a child replacement, but I definitely consider my pets as part of my family. You are probably the type of person who is callous to someone who is upset when they just lost a pet.

I like doggos and puppers, they have their place tho. It's not at the table with my real family. It's on the floor at my feet serving its purpose.

My most recent doggo (rip Murphy) was treated very well. She would always smell when i user named and would come wherever I was at the time to catch a second hand buzz. Her last few weeks before the bone cancer made her unable to walk and I had to put her down ( the feels right now) were spent on my bed/couch. I made rice and chicken for her every single day and even cooked it in some special butter so she wouldn't be in as much pain.

I loved that dog but I didn't consider her family and she knew her role in the household.

No I'd take a family member to chemo treatments and try to extend their life as much as I could.

i got my cats some of their favorite wet food and I'll ask if I can sneak some turkey from dinner to give to them. plus, catnip party

i'll be away working some of the day but they'll get extra time and attention when I'm home. they don't need new toys. i'll play with the laser with them. they are nuts about it. once they hear the chain jingle they go flying
