Sort of? Not so much excited for Christmas as excited to have a day off.
80+ hour, 7 day work weeks are fucking brutal.

No, one full-time job. I work for UPS and this time of year is insane. I sleep at my desk most days.

Holy crap. Isn't working that many hours for one job illegal or something?

Not as long as you take the required breaks I don't think.
Idk, I'm not even working that much compared to some people. One guy in New Jersey put in a 96 hour week. My boss has been here for 4 days straight. It's just...that time of year y'know? People need their packages lol.

Not even a little bit. After a dozen years of working wholesale supply side and then 3 years of retail...working retail has sucked all joy out of this season whatsoever.

The only thing I remotely wanted this year arrived in the mail a few days ago. Like fuck I'd be waiting until the 25th to open it, and now that I have it Christmas is superfluous.

But some of you long timers might be aware that I have zero holiday cheer and refuse to have 'good will to men' on a fucking schedule. I'll be jolly when I bloody well want.

I kind of am actually. The family usually gets together on Christmas eve night and have spirits, listen to music, open presents, shoot the shit, etc. Should be fun. Last year me and my dad and cousin were up all night, wasted and annoying the whole neighborhood with our obnoxious music playing.

I'll admit that it's quite stressful. With the Fiscal year ending, our workload is quadrupled. And that's further exacerbated by the fact that VAT is being introduced in Jan 2018.

Ugh.......Right now, I feel like I'm dying.

However, I'm still pretty excited! I've decided to take 2 days off (24 and 25th), so I'm working overtime to make up for those 2 days.

I just think of the happiness I'd feel when I'm with my family and the workload becomes bearable.

Christmas doesn't excite me as I have no kids or a OH. I just go out, get drunk and eat good food but I can do that anyday I wish.

Working in that type of the sector it's a given to work Christmas eve. Same as working in retail or catering to name a few. Hell some pubs/bars even open Christmas day for a few hours over here at least. You've no commitments but your wife so you really have no reason to refuse other than you simply want to be on the other side of the bar.

And my wife's family, celebrates all Christmas day. I've been telling him I'm not available, on a day he should be closed, for 2 months. I won't be showing up.

I hope you mean two days and not months. Still it matters not as he shouldn't be closed at all. He's missing out on money on one of the biggest nights of the year. Christmas eve a lot of folk go out drinking so of course some places must be open and thus some folk working. It's simply stupidity to turn down the kind of cash places make on Christmas Eve at least. What next they close for new years eve/day too?

First, I'm talking about Christmas day not eve. Second, neither are big drinking nights for bars in the US unless you're catering to those that don't celebrate. The bar is usually closed but since the home football team is playing, he wants to open for the 8:30pm game. He can do that himself. I'm working Christmas eve and the bar will probably close at 9.

I see. Yeah Bosses tend to not listen to the little people a lot. My brother has this issue with his. He works in a pub as a chef and despite booking days off months in advance at times they try to screw him.
