I hate it when I click on an interesting story and the page is just a video. Especially the videos that autoplay.

And I hate it a lot but it is pretty common so I feel like I'm not the norm.

I don't like "video articles" either. I can skim an article to find the important stuff, but watching a video at 1.25 or even 1.5 speed tends to take longer. Unless visuals are super important to the subject matter, I agree with you: text would be better.

I watch channels on youtube that relate to gaming news and whatnot more than actually reading about it so I guess I like videos more.

Even then, you can just put pictures in your news article.

Depends. Video is good for combining info with visuals and also for listening while doing other stuff. However, it's faster to just read most of the time.

People are lazy, especially the ones becoming adults now. If it's not a tweet or a video they probably won't read it. It's a shame but videos are becoming more common. Advertisers are taking advantage of this and will add them halfway through news.

If a video starts playing when I click an article, I just sigh and click back. I don't want a video, I want to read the information at my leisure.

I agree that strictly video reports are annoying. I don't mind listening to news if it's part of a podcast or something, but if it's just a video I'll look for the news somewhere else

I prefer articles to videos unless they're video game reviews, I guess.

I don't usually like video articles. I will use them for specific stories. But I'd rather read. If it has both video and text, then Inusially atoll read. But I'm not big on video by itself. Maybe for video game reviews.

You know the reason they do this, right? With ad blockers so common, companies get less and less revenue from text articles. No one prefers the videos, but that's how companies can still make money. They can put ads in the video or name-drop sponsors, which you can't skip. This lets them force you to still see the ads, thus getting money. It's... well, it's a product of the ad arms race.
