And isn't it frustrating as hell? I started it and got far a long time ago, 50+ hours worth of play. I was stuck and stopped playing.
So it's been a while. I figured instead of trying to pick up where I left off, and not remembering much of anything, I decided to start a new game on normal.
Now I'm only 3 hours in and I'm getting my ass kicked. I can't proceed.
I feel like starting yet a new game on easy.
You played it?

I played a little as an elven archer. I probably shouldn't have infiltrated that lord's manor early, 'cause paladins were painting the walls with my guts, haha.

I feel like I'm infiltrating everywhere early lol. Dang, I don't remember it being this hard.

It's surprisingly hard.

Either start as a Rogue or buy one. Or be really good with traps. (I remember none of those names)

I haven't played it in a while, but I certainly don't remember it being that difficult. It may take some save scumming, but you should be able to get through with low to moderate difficulty on normal setting.

I didn't remember it being that difficult either, but it is now. But, I had to wuss out and lower the difficulty from normal to easy. Ugh. Doesn't hurt anything but my pride, I guess, but still...grrr

I played it two years or so ago. I played it on Hard mode and I didn't find it difficult at all, aside from maybe a few encounters.

My party consisted of:

PC Kind Wayfarer Paladin for burst damage, offtanking, and off heals.
Eder for tanking
Durance for healing and buffing
Aloth for AoE damage and crowd control
Grieving Mother for damage and crowd control

And the last spot was a revolving door for whatever other party member I felt like bringing. Usually Sagani the ranger, because she came with her fox as an additional body to take hits for my other party members.

Seriously, crowd control is the great equalizer in that game. I got a ton of mileage out of Aloth's Chilling Fog (aoe cold damage and blinds enemies in the fog) and Slicken (aoe knockdown) spells and they are just level 1 spells.

My Paladin was surprisingly helpful, between his aura and restoring party member endurance every time he killed an enemy or used Flames of Devotion.

Good advice. Thanks!

Positioning is important too. Use chokepoints when available. Keep your party together, but not too close.

Some useful spells. I don't recall the name, but Durance and other Priests have a spell that sets down a glowing healing circle that continuously restores endurance for all party members standing on it. Abuse the fuck out of that spell.

For Wizards, Chilling Fog really is a great spell because blinding enemies is a major boon for your survival. Drops their chance to hit you like a rock. Slicken can briefly knock down several enemies to buy some time. Combusting Wounds for a bit of extra damage on trash mobs. Expose Vulnerabilities on the tough bosses. Gaze of the Adragan later on to petrify enemies.

For Ciphers like Grieving Mother, I got a lot of use from Mind Wave, which knocks down enemies behind the target (target your tank when he has several enemies in front of him) and Mind Blades (deals damage to several targets). Whisper of Treason had it's uses (charm spell). Recall Agony and Pain Link were useful for boss fights and multiple target fights respectively. You can have a lot of fun with Antipathetic Field or Ectopsyhic Echo if you get the right positioning.

Is it a good game? Don't own a pc, and the ps4 version is apparently a good port so I've been eyeing it.

If you like isometric CRPGs, then yeah. A pretty fantastic restart of the genre - Tyranny is also a further improvement on it as well, and a great game made by Obsidian as well.

First time I played it I didn't make it past the first act.
Second time I got farther, to one of the bigger towns (with the haunted lighthouse) and I did some quests there and it was getting interesting but then I got tired of running back and forth between the town's districts and I stopped launching the game >_>.

this is a good summary of PoE

here's how my battles went:

1) Paladin runs in and draws aggro

2) Aloth casts miasma of dull mindnedness on paladin and all enemies

3) Durance uses his weakening incantation or whatever it's called

4) Grieving mother uses one of the many, many ridiculous spells she has

5) rogue and ranger take some potshots at whatever isnt dead

Ectopsyhic Echo

that shit was gamebreaking and how i beat the evil lord that had murdered half the town at like...level 5 or something ridiculously low

cast, then run her ass around until she's tagging the whole group (which continues to try and fail to hit the paladin)

basically it's a game of force multipliers and specialist roles. make a paladin that is unhittable and a party that never misses and you're golden

I have

I wanted to like it, but I can't because it's not turn-based combat. I have a hard time pausing and starting the game over and over again to go and select everyone and give them something to do

I like Divinity Original Sin 2 a lot more
