Well, now that I thought about it, it might be because a lot of the non-meta DDLC stuff is very "realistic horror." The stuff with Sayori, the other stuff you learn about Natsuki's abuse and Yuri's own... issues... is stuff that actually happens and is portrayed somewhat realistically. In a way that can unnerve someone far worse than over-the-top horror like Higurashi where it's very clear that it's fictional. Throw the genuinely creepy meta-horror into the mix, and...

I would recommend an LP to finish it off, though unfortunately you'll have to hear someone else guessing what's going on instead of doing it yourself, which eliminates the fun of the mystery aspect.

MLP 8-10- The Break Up Break Down: aw c'mon don't abuse ogres and oubliettes like that guys. Big Mac's puppy dog eyes were pretty great though. ...wait but Cheerilee. :\ Misunderstanding-based plots like this always get me mildly upset. :\ Was overall a pretty cute ep though! Sweetie Belle at the end made me sad a bit, but it was an overall pretty cute ep, and we were due for some good Discord action. ....wait is Spike moving on o_o

15.9.9- Envy v. Watanabe v. Iwatani: ***

Lucha 1-18b: Cuerno and Mundo in a cage get HYPE. Vamp proposes that the cage is going to work AGAINST Mundo somehow, at which point Mundo misses a big chance to escape early. I liked escape rules when I was a kid but now I just prefer the execution of non-escape finishes. "You're not in there to win, you're there to beat somebody up," they say as Cuerno tries to climb out. Escape DOES lead to some cool spots though. Being a Mundo match also leads to cool spots. I like that Cuerno can even get mixed cheers against Mundo. Smarky dang crowd. This cage seems worryingly unsturdy! Mundo wins a pretty great match after a Snukaesque moment. (****1/2)

Sanctuary: Got through the Machinist and C.Y.N., the later of whom was fun with MGS references and came very close to ending my run multiple times. Pretty sure I'd remember fighting her so it seems that lol the Barbarian is now in uncharted territory! I have a letter for Cynthia from her father but I can't seem to figure out how to give it to her. Hmmmm.

I'm glad to see Discord back again, it's been quite some time since his last appearance in the show. Good to see the trio back: Spike, Big Mac and Discord together again in a single episode too! At least the show hasn't forgotten about Sugar Belle either! Big Mac should of put the normal address on the pie though, and it didn't help that Derpy AKA Muffins [depending on if you use the name fans gave the character or the actual name] messed up the ink on the pie, and sent it too Sweetie Belle. Welp, that search for the *secret admirer*, oops, not happening, sorry Sweetie Belle!

Russia 2018 World Cup: Russia does it again with another win the other day, and they will qualify for the Knockout Stage if Uruguay wins or draws today.

Went to the Cubs game today! Was a dang good 4-0 win over the Dodgers. Some pretty great defensive plays in there, too.

My car is dead :( About 90% have a buyer lined up and should be able to get to work tomorrow and get car the second friday so that's a plus

Ready Player One: BEATED. The ending felt a bit rushed, but had some cool segments. All in all...it had a lot more highs and lows than I'm used to. There were some spots I really liked, and some spots where I thought the cringey 80s wankfest would never end. It averages out to a book I don't regret reading, but I don't feel a burning desire to run out and see the movie or read the guy's other books or purchase a delorean or anything. Next comes a book I am pretty sure none of you will care about!

Slay the Spire: Won with the Defect! I don't think he's likely to be the strongest class, but he's the most fun to play, so I've been using only him after trying everybody once. Looks like there's more stuff to do though, and it's still fun so we're not done yet.

By Invitation Only: This is a gift from my mom, and I still feel kinda bad about turning up my nose at the last one (Fountainhead) so let's give it a shot. Looks like a quick read, and it's relevant to my interests. It's outside of my usual tastes, but it's a slice of life about a wedding between a transplanted South Carolina boy and a Chicago girl, and the families thereof. I'm a transplanted Southerner and my wife is from the Chicago suburbs, so, yeah. Pretty fun so far! I'm hoping this is one of those culture clash stories where neither side is presented as "better" than the other.

MLP 8-11- Molt Down: Oh no puberty! Rarity was pretty great this ep, and I feel kinda bad for all the nonsense to which we subject Zecora. Spike evolved wooo.

Lucha 1-19a: Woo, Drago/Aerostar to start. Finish sequence was kinda contrived, but cool. Good stuff as always, and Aerostar goes up 2-1. (***1/2) Another weird Konnan promo, this one about chess. Ryck rolls through the Crew. Kinda brutal. (**1/2)

Sanctuary: Really long run today. lol the berserker remains undefeated and alive to see Act 3! Definitely my best run to date. I unlocked a Wardrobe for the first time! I'm not entirely sure that Bear Garb is a tradeoff I'm willing to make (Attack bonus, but permanent Exposed status), but these seem really hard to find so I pumped all my shards into it anyway and we're going with it.

Higurashi: Teppei went down surprisingly easily! ...Is Rika the one getting drunk? :\

Tabletop: Got to bust out the rarely played Perquackey with company, as well as Killer Bunnies: Conquest of the Magic Carrot. Perquackey was more fun and challenging than I remembered- I won a pretty decisive victory but I think luck of the dice played a large part. Killer Bunnies was fun- I played the original a ton in college and bought all the expansions, but hadn't really touched it since then, or actually gotten around to trying this reboot-type experience. Our guest hadn't played in a long time either, and Wifebolo never, so it was kinda nice to go back to basics. I spent most of the game just trying to keep a bunny on the field and got dunked on, but it was still fun somehow. ....That's also my experience with the original, so sure.

Trails: Nothing important happened (beyond the somewhat obvious decision to have us join Vin) but there were some pretty great Estelle moments today. Olivier continues to be entertaining.

Tabletop: Got Dwarven Smithy (my first of three Kickstarter games from a spree a couple months ago) to the table with Wifebolo, who pulled off the upset. Pretty fun! Some of the rules were less than 100% clear, but it was a kinda different challenge about managing resources with limited space. It has a "starter" game and a "full" game and I'm curious how much they will wind up being different.

SoS: I hope the Tyrion and Sansa thing works out eventually :\ That and/or Sansa going to Highgarden so we can get more sassy grandma action.

Can't remember whether it's after beating the palace or after the change of heart that the next area opens, but at least I have two requests so it won't be a total waste either way. Beat the doctor that was harrassing Takemi, but I guess I have to do real-world stuff and come back for the hacker?

Tabletop: Round 2 of Dwarven Smithy, this time with a slight rules fix. This time I didn't let Wifebolo run away with all the big points and won fairly handily. It's a bit easier to do stuff with the errata, so that's kinda fun. Maybe we'll try the "full" game next time!

Lucha 1-19b: I thought the "Grave Consequences" name was a bit much, but they're doing a good job making it feel like a bigger deal than ye olde casket match. I also like Fenix being "the man of a thousand lives." I'm glad they gave it a big match feel, because boy did they deliver! I'm a sucker for a good brawl-all-over-the-building match, even though they tend to get a bit higher on the Muta scale than I strictly prefer. This also had the interesting element of Catrina! Really good stuff. (****1/2)
