they used to be separate. i used to have 40 sick days a year plus 10 vacation days.

I use to get 2.5 days a month. Which was 30 a year. And if we have more than 60 on the new fiscal year, we would lose all extra unless we tried to use it but couldn't. Now, I'm not sure. I know we have the 7 holidays and a floating one, though.

1 week family time, for looking after parents or kids or whatever.
And a couple personal days that have to be used each fiscal year. The Vacation and Sick time can be carried over year to year, though there is a cap on vacation time of like 12 weeks or something, where they just start paying it to you in cash instead.

5 weeks paid vacation.
5 paid discrepancy days to take whenever.
5 paid sick days.

So technically 7 weeks, I guess.

10 stat holidays, four weeks (20 days) vacation, 12 days of flex time (effectively vacation days that can't be taken consecutively - meant to be used for things like taking a day/afternoon off for an appointment, but can also be used to lengthen a long weekend and make a mini-vacation out of it).

So yeah, about two months all said and done.

I also get 5 sick days a year, if you count that.

Most workers in the U.S. dont get paid time off for any reason.

I don't use nearly enough of it during the year though, hence why I usually have most of the month of December off (like I do right now).

currently 25 days/year soon to increase to 30, and eventually (years from now) to 35.

not that I want vacation... especially when you're supposed to request it months in advance. it's maybe nice to take a week or two off if you start to feel especially weary, but who can predict it? if I'm not feeling weary, I want to work.
