I can't say anything about 1 & 2. But I've heard 3 was great. And I personally like 4 a lot. And 5 seems like it'll be pretty good.

2 is a decent enough game, especially for that price. It has alot of really rough and annoying edges though.

Also be aware that 3 or 4 if you want to play it at some point are quite different.

I played 3 and its mod/expansion, Blood Dragon.

3 itself was a pretty solid open world style game. Blood Dragon is a hilarious parody of old school over the top action films in a sci-fi setting. Even the gameplay tips during loading screens fail to take the game seriously.

Far Cry 3 and Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon are both excellent games.
Blood Dragon might be my favourite of them though.
That game is just so funny, every minute there's always something that cracks me up.

2 wasn't that good. The first was ok but very different to what it is today. The game really started to become it's own thing with Far Cry 3 and Blood Dragon DLC. All three games+ DLC are sold in a bundle called Far Cry The Wild Expedition. If possible I'd go with that. Far Cry 4 was just like 3 but not as good but I did enjoy Far Cry Primal a lot. All in all it's a good series and I'd recommend giving it a try. Even more so with Far Cry 5 out soon.

As said, 3 and blood dragon are amazing. 4 was mehhhh. Like they tried to do three but better and it ended up worse.

2 is my least favorite of the series.

I liked Far Cry and Far Cry Instincts, but really like the direction they went with Far Cry 3 and 4, and Blood Dragon is funny as hell.

Far Cry Primal is really good, but beware youre fighting animals and cavemen using spears and bows and stuff.

Oh yeah, the villains in Far Cry 3 and 4 are more interesting than anyone. Vaas and Pagan Min are both fun and interesting villains.

So I put in a few hrs into FC2. I'm at 2%. First impression is that it's vastly a hostile environment and a hard game to just breeze through. Mechanics and realism are ok. The lighting is crazy but its a very brown game (no pun intended since its set in Africa).

I'll probably play it for a few weeks and not finish it. Definitely will try the other games in the series that were suggested. Thanks.

They are fun games.

They are excellent games. But if it means supporting Uplay, then it's a hard "no" from me.

1 is a tech demo, 2 is a genuinely great game, 3 is a giant fetch quest, didn't play 4

the first one had pretty good gameplay, although there were some really brutal parts near the end.

I loved the trailer to 3 SO much that I got the game and never played it because I'm too afraid it won't be as good as the trailer... >_>

First one isn't great.
Second one is ok.
Third one is fantastic.
Fourth one tried too hard to be 3, still good though.
Primal is a great survival game and the best FC game when it comes to bow combat...really bad otherwise.

I wasn't crazy about Far Cry 2 at all - it felt dull, unpolished, and something that just wouldn't end. I really enjoyed the formula to Far Cry 3 and on, though.

First game is an early attempt at a stealth FPS that ended up turning out really wonky and not that good, but is at least worth playing since it's a unique playstyle that you don't see very often.

Instincts + Predator are both great, though are more generic FPS games no different from any other on the market from the time period.

Far Cry 2 is polarizing; it's one of my favorite games of all time, for its harsh, open-ended nature, mixed in with more casual elements for finding diamonds and unlocking gear. The buddy system is a major highlight, which unfortunately no other game has tried to replicate.

Far Cry 3 does a complete 180 from 2 and is basically just a series of waypoints on a map you need to walk to. Everything inbetween those waypoints will automatically die if you look at them funny. The only fun parts are the story missions, and even then it doesn't reach very high peaks.

Blood Dragon is just more of the same as Far Cry 3 though with a more overt comedic tone, and I don't think it pulls it off very well.

Haven't played the rest of the games yet.

It's also worth noting that Crysis is the spiritual successor to the first game. If you're interested in a full series exploration, it's worth looking at, though every game after Predator has almost nothing in common with Far Cry 1 other than the name on the box and "there's like jungles in this game maybe" so it's not the most relevant when looking at the recent games.

Are you sure you're a game champ?

Because I started the game on hard and while not easily, stomped the stuff between the waypoints. As i got more unlocks I had to up the difficulty again because it was getting too easy.

FC2 was the only bad one, IMO.

Are you sure you're a game champ?

Because I started the game on hard and while not easily, stomped the stuff between the waypoints. As i got more unlocks I had to up the difficulty again because it was getting too easy.

The enemies die when you look at them funny, not the other way around. xP

First and 2nd are on GOG. The others you might as well get on Uplay if interested. Otherwise Steam is just on top of the other DRM. There's usually a good deal in the Humble Store around the holidays. 3, 4, and Primal are decently designed. Not sure about 5 yet, and Blood Dragon hurts my eyes.

Yeah, FC3 was good technically, but its fratbro douche cast was offputting. FC4, minus the shitty GoldenEye stages in the snow, was by far the best. I hated 2 though. Everything felt cramped and the malaria was annoying.

i have all negativity towards Far Cry 2. sniper can snipe you miles away and you are wondering where the heck are they shooting from. Also the respawn rate is way to high. if they fix those two thing the game would be pretty great. I'm not big on your dumb ai partner habing quest and they can perma die.

Blood Dragon is my favorite. i haven't played 4 or primal yet.

All of them are good. Blood Dragon and Yeti are must plays if you are getting them.

I found Primal the weakest of the bunch from 2-4. Too much annoying things in Primal for me to give it a full recommend over 2,3 and 4.

Driving through a checkpoint then jumping on to the mounted gun was fun. So far I'm just blowing stuff up and setting fires. Gonna try stealth and snipe as soon as I can stock up.

Not a bad game so far. Alot of restarts but I still don't know the lay of land and I keep heading into ambushes.

I enjoyed 2 and 3.
