Inner losers jittery hands hover over the controls, unsure of what to say. He really wants the date to go well. He looks over to the Temptress standing beside him with her arms crossed.
She shrugs and tells him that she cant actually touch the controls in her state.
He looks to his other side where inner Chad is still passed out, then back to the monitor. His hands jitter even more.
The Temptress sighs and tries to calm him down by putting her hands on his shoulders to give him a massage.
He gets taken aback by it at first, but starts to feel soothed. His hands calm down and he decides to wing the date.

You stand up. I didn't really have anything specific in mind. Wanna just look around the stores?

Sure! she says with a smile. She then runs off to throw her empty smoothie away.

With her back facing you, you can't help but stare at her shapely ass, accentuated by the tight fit of her high waisted denim shorts.
The light sound of her footsteps ring out as her sneakers hit the floor, dangling the silver chain on her side with every step. She shoots her empty cup in the trash bin then turns to face you, bringing your gaze towards her tank top which shows off a bit of her belly and her modest rack.

Inner loser's breathing becomes heavier, but gets interrupted by a sharp pain on his shoulders. He glances behind him to see an irritated Temptress. He takes it as a sign that he should focus.

You shake your head in an attempt to banish your impure thoughts.

Lucy runs back to the table to grab her purse, then walks up next to you. Shall we? she says with her head tilted.

You both walk side-by-side around the mall.

Oh! Lucy exclaims as she grabs your arm. Let's go in here! she says as she drags you into a womens clothing store.

Youre greeted with rows and racks filled with dresses and fashion items which are all unfamiliar to you, but all radiate this rather flowery and vivacious feeling beyond your comprehension.

Lucys halo turns black as she lets go of you and grabs one of the slim dresses off the racks. She puts it against your body. Madame, she starts speaking in a terrible British accent, I believe this dress du magnifique is yours.

You smirk and slowly push the dress away. Pfft, what the hell is that supposed to be?

She puts the dress back and grabs a different clothing item--a crop top that barely covers anything. She flashes a mischievous grin at you, much to your chagrin. If I buy you this for Christmas, would you wear it in public?

You cringe at the image that popped in your head. Even inner loser and the Temptress are shuddering. Id rather be shirtless in public than parade that around.

We got a bet here! Lucy exclaims as she returns the crop top. You over there, she points to the lady at the register, you totally heard what he said, right?

The lady nods in confusion.

Lucy claps her hands together. Boom. Witness acquired. We have a deal now. She grins playfully. Just kidding. But hey, if you ARE going to do it, let me know so I can post it online.

You shake your head in an amused but resigned way and start heading out the store. Lucy runs up and walks by your side.

A bit more strolling leads you two to a toy store. A bunch of novelty items and fun-looking trinkets line the shelves.

Lucy immediately runs to the toy gun section, disappearing from your sight.

As soon as you approach where she is, she pops out from behind the shelf and sticks a suction-cupped dart on your head.

Her smirk nearly brings her to the floor. Haha! Oh shit! I always knew you were a unicorn!

You walk up to her while taking off the dart, giving it back to her with another amused sigh.

She returns the dart and the gun back to where she found them, then digs around in the bin full of novelty items. In her hands is a weird gadget that looks like a robot hand. She presses on its trigger, which makes the robot hand close into a fist; its either a weapon or the lazy mans secret to grabbing items beyond the couch. Hey, check out that one over there, Lucy says as she points to a toy behind you.

You look behind and only see a wall. You turn back to face her, only to be stopped by a robot fist on your cheek.

Boop. Hehe. Made ya look, she says while putting the hand back in the bin, then grabs your arm and drags you back out the store. Cmon, lets see where else we can dick around in!

As the two of you stroll around, one peculiar store stands out among the others with its gaudy aesthetic--Hot Topic.

Lucys eyes light up. Oh. Fuck. Yes. She gets behind you and pushes you inside.

Early 2000s skater-punk-rock-rap music straight from old Youtube AMVs blares in your ears as you enter the dimly-lit store. All the anime and comic book decorations bring you back to your edgy teen days, though you havent really changed too much since then.

Lucys already ransacked half the clothing racks while you were admiring the store. She returns to you holding a black shirt that shows a pie chart labeled Fuck: and the pie charts segments read You, That, and This Shit. She holds it up to her torso to see if its the right size. Do you think I should get this?

You narrow your eyes. Uh. No. Do you wanna be taken seriously?

She stares at the shirt pensively for a moment. Ew. Yeah. Youre right. She runs back to the racks and returns the shirt, then rummages through the other racks. She returns to you holding two shirts this time, one with a picture of Goku and the other with Vegeta on it. So, hear me out here. Goku and Vegeta are, like, super gay for each other, right? So I was thinking--

Wait, they are? you say while raising an eyebrow. How are they gay for each other?

She spreads her arms out. Cmon, the entire show had a lot of gay in it. I mean, think about it. Saiyan armor is literally just speedo with padding--look, thats not the point here! She brings the shirt with Vegeta on it against your chest. I was thinking, I could buy this for us both to wear as a couple, since were totally gay for each other.

You take the shirt from her. I dont think thats how gay works.

She starts walking to the counter. Damn, fine. Were totally lesbians for each other.

You decide theres no use challenging her on that so you simply follow behind her in line and take out your wallet.

She takes the shirt from you. I said Id buy them both. Its cool.

Cmon, lemme pay for them. Its the least I could--

Lucys halo turns gold as she leans her back against your chest and tilts her head backwards to look up at you with puppy-dog eyes. Let me do this for you, okay? She springs forward off your body, then looks back at you with a reserved smile. I wanna make your wish count. She then arrives at the front of the line to pay for the shirts.

Inner loser is frozen in place, just as you are. The Temptress waves her hand in front of inner losers eyes. No response. She sighs and whips him in the back, jolting him back to consciousness.

You shake your head and snap out of it, only to find that youve already been dragged out of the store by Lucy.

She hands you the bag with the clothes in it. Here, you can hold this if you really wanna help out.

You take it from her, then you both start walking around again. You find that her pace is slower than usual, and shes averting her gaze from you as she lets her hand dangle near yours.

In a panic, inner loser looks towards the Temptress and asks if this is a sign. She nods. He looks back at the screen, but his hands get jittery again.

Inner losers shaking hands hover over the controls for a bit until a hand appears and directs it around the controls. He looks to his side and sees that inner Chad has risen from his temporary grave.

Inner Chad gives him a thumbs up and takes over the controls. The Temptress crosses her arms and puffs her cheeks at the sight of inner Chad.

You sway your hand near hers; the back of your hand brushes over hers with every oscillation.

Lucy takes the lead and gently grasps your hand, then intertwines her fingers with yours.

You look away and blush, just as Lucy does. You didnt think a girls hand would be this soft or warm. You note that her hand is slightly sweaty.

She smiles awkwardly as the golden glow of her halo becomes brighter. Your hand is big.

You nod.

She glances at you, then away again. Aha...Sorry. I had a lot to say, but my mind is just drawing blanks now.

You nod.

Her smile grows even more tense. Sorry...am I talking too much?

You nod, but not as an answer to her question, but simply because youre drawing blanks as well.

She holds your hand tighter, then looks at your face. Hey...say something. I feel nervous enough as it is.

You glance at her, then dart away. Uh. You dont have to be nervous. Its just me.

Her hand loosens up. I know...but its my first date, yknow? She looks to the ground. Sorry. Ive been trying too hard this entire date. Im just really nervous when it comes to things like this, so I try to act natural. She looks at you again. Im...not really doing a good job at that, huh?

You look back at her. Right now, Id say youre doing fantastic.

Steam blows out of Lucys ears as she turns her reddened face away.

Inner Chad puffs his chest out with pride as he thinks about what he just made you say.
Inner losers blushing next to him while the Temptress is facepalming.

The two of you walk in silence with your hands interlocked. As you walk, you notice that there isnt anyone around you; the crowd has completely vanished. You both arrive back at the food court, yet there still hasnt been a single person to be seen. Not even the workers by the food stands. You look over at Lucy, whose halo is now completely opaque.

Lucys grasp gets tighter as she tenses her face. Were in trouble, she says with a serious tone. She lets go of your hand and keeps it inside her purse.
A glowing arrow whizzes through the air, nearly nicking your face. Another one heads straight for you, but Lucy steps in front of you and deflects it with her purse.

She takes her hand out, revealing a glowing golden sword infused with energy.

From the shadows, a person shrouded in a hoodie emerges before you. You notice that they also have a golden halo.

The hooded figure materializes a golden bow, then draws it as they aim it at you and Lucy.

She dashes forward, deflecting every shot they take. She finally closes the distance and swipes at the figure with her sword, but they jump back to dodge it.

Lucielle, the hooded figure says with a raspy voice, I thought you were trying to return to Heaven. Why are you hanging around Demons?

She points her sword at them. Whered you get that impression? If youre talking about that guy over there, hes pretty human to me.

They draw their bow. I sense Demonic energy from him. He is clearly a threat.

You-- her halo turns black and she dashes forward with lightning speed, getting behind them and holding her sword to their neck, --dumbass! Look at him. Is that the face of a threat to you?!

You stare at the hooded figure--not that you can see their eyes--and wave at them awkwardly.

They drop their bow, causing it to vanish into thin air. W-Walky?! they exclaim in surprise.

Youre both taken aback.

The hooded figure breaks out of Lucys hold, then sprouts a pair of large white wings and flies away.

Lucy tries to chase after them, but the crowd slowly fades back into the scenery. She makes her way back to you, exhausted.

You notice that her halo is transparent again, and her sword is nowhere to be found. What was that about?

She looks back at where she flew off to. An Angel. She looks back to you. You know em? They seem to know you.

You scratch your head. I definitely dont know any Angels.
She sighs and takes a seat nearby. Well, that ruined the mood. She looks at you and smiles. I had a really nice time today, though. Thank you.

You smile back at her. Didnt think you knew how to say thanks.

She puffs her cheeks. Hey! Whats that supposed to mean?! She giggles, then gets up. I mean it though. Thank you. She stands in front of you and looks up at you. I think its time for me to go. You need a ride home?

I think Ill be-- youre interrupted by the sound of your phone ringing. You take it out and see a text message from Bub.

<-Val and I cant take you home. Busy with stuff. Have fun!

You close your phone. ...in need of a ride after all.

She grins and walks to your side, holding your hand once more. Well then, shall I escort you to your carriage? she says with her terrible British accent again.

You both walk hand-in-hand to the entrance of the mall in silence. As you head outside, you revel in the warmth of her hand.

You both arrive at her car, which was parked just a few paces from the entrance, and get inside.

Hey Lucy, you say while looking at her worriedly.

Whats up? she says as she starts her car.

What exactly happened back there? Everyone just vanished and you had a sword and there was that Angel and--

Yikes man, one at a time. She drives out of the parking lot and into the main road. Long story short, that Angel sent us to a Crossing Field, which is really just some magic bullshit. Normal humans cant enter it. But somehow, you can.

You put a finger on your chin. You think its cuz of the deal I made?

She keeps her gaze on the road. Probably. I dont know man, I didnt pay much attention in Angel school. She sees you about to open your mouth. Dont ask about Angel school. Just imagine the most stereotypical private Catholic school here. Next question.

You scratch your head. Uh, sword?
Angel bullshit. In the Crossing Field, we can freely use our powers. She realizes she went on the wrong street and makes a sudden U-turn, surprising you a little. Enough about that boring stuff, lets talk about something else! You go to school, right?

You slump back in your seat to relax yourself from that sudden turn. Yeah. I go to Jen-Eric University.

She glances at you with a smile. Dude, same here! Well, Im not a student but I work at the library there. Isnt kind of far from where you live, though?

You think back to the many shenanigans youve had from using Bubs portals to get to school. I have my ways.

Having arrived, she parks near your place, then looks at you with her puppy dog eyes again as her halo turns gold. If you...um, if youd like, I can drive you there if ever our schedules line up.

You give her a thumbs up, then close the door. You then make your way back to your apartment as you hear Lucys car rev out of the parking lot.

Im home, you say as you enter your apartment. The sound of gunshots and explosions can be heard throughout the living room as Bub and Valerie are sitting on the couch fervently playing video games.

I call BS on that game, Valerie says while biting her lip.

Its calling getting good, sonnn, Bub says with a smug face. He notices you and waves. Oh, hey man.

You look back at him with a tired face. THIS is what you guys were busy with?

Valerie sets her controller on the table then leans back on the couch. Oh hush. I got you one of your dates today and also made sure it went smoothly. I needed a break.
You raise an eyebrow. Smoothly? Werent you guys gone for, like, most of it?

Bub mirrors Valerie and also leans back. Nah. We were hidden using our powers. You didnt notice how people didnt give a damn about you guys making out?

So youre telling me, you say as you cross your arms, that you could have helped me when Allies powers got me.

Val stretches her arms. Eh. We knew youd be fine. She reaches for her controller and starts playing again. How about your other date, howd that go? We kinda left after you passed out.

You walk up to the mini-fridge. Pretty good, I think. Some stuff happened with Angels, though.

Valerie glances at you with her usual tired look, but with a hint of seriousness. Walky, sweetie, Im telling you this for your own good. Stay away from Angels.

You grab a can of soda and pop it open, letting out some fizz. Wait, does that include Lucy? Shes a fallen Angel, but not really; does that count?

The one next door to me, right? Val says while focusing on the TV. She seems alright. Didnt really sense much danger from her.

Bub lies on his side, still somehow able to play the game. I wouldnt worry too much about it, man. There really arent a lot of Angels in this town.

You finish up your soda. Thanks for the heads up. Oh, and thanks for all the help today, guys.

Valerie gives you a tired smile, keeping her gaze fixed on the TV. Yeah, no prob. Just go get laid soon so I dont have to talk to Bub anymore.

Bub springs upright in his seat. Hey now, Ill have you know that talking to me is normally a premium $20 package. You should feel special that youre getting an amazing free deal here.

She yawns. Uh huh.

You chuck the empty can into the trash and walk back to your room, then crash on your bed. You face the ceiling and hold your phone up to see if anyones texted you.

Lily?! you say while sitting up abruptly. You remembered that you havent said a single word to her ever since you found out about her boyfriend. More accurately, you overheard a conversation she had with her friend and gathered that she has a boyfriend. Looking back at it, you could be wrong.

You activate Thirst Hyperdrive as you start replying without a second thought--its Lily after all.
Surprisingly, inner loser is manning the controls.

->Yeah of course. Whats up?

A few seconds pass. She replies.

Inner loser hovers his hands over the controls, about to send the reply, but inner Chad grabs him by the shoulders and shakes him a little in order to stop him from being too impulsive. He was surprised at first, but nods at inner Chad and goes back to the controls with a clearer head.

You decide to message Lucy first.

->Yo nerd, I got class tomorrow around 4, what are you gonna be doing?

Some seconds pass but no reply arrives, so you hit up Allie as well.

->Hey Allie, how are you doing? I was wondering if you had any plans tomorrow morning.

You lie back in bed and stare at the ceiling, thinking about everything thats happened so far. Thinking about how things got like this. Thinking about whatll happen after all this. Once you win the bet, then what? Does Bub leave you? Will his friends leave as well? If you do it with Lucy, will it mean nothing if she leaves to go to Heaven? Is everything youre doing just a dream, then, if itll all be gone when its done?

Your phone chimes; a message from Lucy.

<-Im workin tomorrow! im not actually allowed to talk to you casually during work lol, but i should get a break around 2

Your phone chimes again with a message from Allie.

<-Oh. You mean like, for work? I do freelance programming to pay the bills. If you mean for hobbies, I usually just play video games or watch anime.
