Do you?

i don't use it and don't really get why it's so big. Never had any interest in using it. I use youtube a lot but i think that in the u.s that facebook has more people using it than youtube.

I use failbook as an aptitude/personality test-if you don't use it or could live without it, you're ok by me. A heavy user either isn't the sort of person I want to know or will need to demonstrate a genuine reason for it before I give them the time of day.

I use GameFAQs the same way.

Yeah, mostly to talk to people I otherwise wouldn't and share tons of funny stuff...

Every once in a while I get on a political kick (anti-Trudeau, mainly), but genuinely make an effort to keep anything like that as only a small percentage of my posting. I've unfollowed friends because they spend all day spamming political messages, and regardless of the side, it gets old quickly having a feed dedicated to them. Something I never share, but is easily second on my list of reasons to unfollow somebody are the inspirational quotes (or stuff like them)... especially the dramatic, butthurt ones about "how you learn what true love/pain is," etc...

how would you rate me on that then. its one of the only sites I use. pretty much only this site and facebook. but its been about a week or more since I last logged onto facebook. considering my best friend is raising a currently 2 year old daughter, talking on the phone doesn't go well often as he almost always ends up having to cut the conversation short or put me on hold at some point due to fatherly responsibility.

I only technically stalked someone on facebook once. basically I made another account and looked them up just to see if they had indeed deleted me like I thought, or just deleted their account as it wouldn't have been the first time they had deleted their account out of the blue.

Not that much. I was a late adopter and I've mostly used it to at least partly keep track of family, friends, and former co-wokers. If I can't find somebody's contact info for whatever reason, it gives me one more way to get in touch with them.

In general, I can't stand using it that much given all of the shitty hack political memes.

Yeah, same... I got sooooo tired of every fucking post being about Donald Trump prior to the election then Hillary after it before more Trump. 2 more years until the machine revs up again for 2020's down there... In Canada, there are a shit-ton of rules about money and elections, so ours are like 2 months of ads followed by the election. It comes and goes and is much more palatable. About 75% of the people on my friends list shy away from political posting in general, with the rest divided roughly 15% disagreeing / 10% agreeing with me. Though the 75% majority remain silent, most of them are much further left than I am. I can just tell by their day-to-day opinions on things.

yeah for me I have about a even divide of people that supported one or the other as friends/family on my friendslist. I never posted anything political. the friend I lost over it though, I simply made a comment in a non aggressive manner on something he posted. something dealing with a particular issue moreso than a candidate

Most of my friends are traditional liberals, a few lean towards modern liberalism (ugh), but we just have an unspoken truce and respect each other's views by not commenting... the rest of my friends and the majority of my family are moderate conservative to centrist.

It is what it is... I mean, as long as everybody is respectful towards one-another, I don't really care what beliefs they have, barring extreme ones like being pro-AntiFa or a legitimate hate-monger. I remove those people because I don't want to associate with them at all, there's no discussion to have. You are the company you keep, to an extent. My political views are atypical, especially in Canada, so I am used to being an outsider and if people want to unfriend me, that's fine. I don't take it personally.

eh, i'm the one who unfriended him. something out of the norm for me to do but he started to try and bring my family into the argument. election time really brings out the worst in people. i'm glad I didn't grow up like most of my family though, as a kid I thought sitting around and talking politics is the only damn thing adults did in their free time. mom says she hates talking politics but shes guilty of it to, just not as much as the rest of my family.

^Political discussions never stopped in my house growing up either... They still haven't when we have a family meal together. Myself, my dad, and my wife are typically on the same page, but my mom tends to be pretty left-leaning on specific issues and ends up butthurt. My parents both bring up Ronald Reagan positively on a regular basis though...

my mom loves Reagan too. I learned a long time ago, not only with my family though, but just about anyone, if you disagree with them politically its just best to keep your mouth shut, chance of changing someones mind on it, is too low to be worth the hassle. i've legit proven people wrong by backing my side up with facts or even getting them to admit their reasoning was stupid, and it didn't change who they voted for. too many people pick a side and stick to it no matter what.

Yeah, I didn't talk to my cousin-in-law for about 3-4 years because he got drunk after my wedding and kept trying to strong-arm me into agreeing with his political views. I was the bigger person and just told him to shut up and walked away... He followed me each time, so I left and then he texted me until I turned my phone off. It was a nightmare. For a while, we were basically best friends.

Things are back to normal between us now, but it took a long time to get to the point I was even willing to talk to him. Since patching things up, he's on edge about discussing anything political with me, but as that's all anyone talks about it still comes up most often. He'll usually ask for my opinion before providing his and never attempts to convince me of anything I disagree with.

i'm usually the same way, I don't openly bring up my opinions but i'll ask someone theirs. if I disagree I just shut my mouth, if i agree then I might indulge in conversation about it.

thats like the one thing i'm extremely different than my grandfather on. if he knew your opinion was the opposite of his, it just made him want to talk about it even more, but he liked pissing people off. guess that makes two things i'm extremely different than him on.

I've had an account for 11 years apparently (now that Facebook bothers you with every anniversary like anyone gives a shit) and its been mostly inactive for the last two or three years. I use the messenger service for work groups and overseas friends/family and I post my travel photos for said overseas friends and family.

If I were an 18 year-old now I probably wouldn't see the point of it. The only reason I would miss it if it were gone is because I don't live close to my parents or a lot of my friends. The opposite is true for most kids and there are better apps for showing off photos and chatting to people you barely know like instagram and Snapchat.
