they never offer an explanation for how phillip is dwight's son despite the paternity test saying otherwise -- the only fan theory I've seen is that dwight accidentally took another baby's diaper (like jim and pam's) instead of phillip's but that makes basically no sense at all

lots of time spent on dwights unentertaining family since they were attempting to create a spinoff

michael scott in the finale is pointless -- he could have been greenscreened in and had the same impact

still a good show though

The only thing good about the show was the outrageous awkward shit they did. When they tried to be serious the show got fucking stupid. The show literally tried to tell the audience it's cool to steal an engaged woman.

Its best to just stop watching when Steve Carrell leaves the show, and then start back up on Season 1.

Rinse and repeat.

I used to feel that way, too, but after several rewatches the fourth wall breaking stuff doesn't land as well as it did live (which already wasn't very well)

there isnt any evidence that they ever changed other phillips diapers at the office for one thing, especially not on that day where we see them arrive and leave with their kids

the downward trend starts before he leaves, though, and imo there are plenty of scenes that are worthwhile afterwards

Then again, the fact that it was his baby fits in with the character behavior a lot better. There would be no reason for Angela to even care, not to mention stay with him waiting for the test results.

It doesn't seem post hoc, but it seems like a plot point that they forgot to sort out.

Why is it acceptable to tell an attached woman you're interested in her? Why is it completely acceptable and even encouraged in our Western world to tell a woman who has a boyfriend or a husband that you have feelings for her? Whenever I like a woman but realizes she has someone already then I completely close the door on trying to get with her unless or until she finds herself being single. I see this in movies, TV shows, IRL with friends and all over our current society.

Why do it? Why attempt to home wreck? There's a very low chance she'll leave her dude for you. And even if she does some how leave her man for you, what makes you think she won't leave you for another person? Would you like it if someone tries to holler at your woman?

I mean, they were sleeping together at the time and it seems plausible to think she would not want the Senator to know about that considering she wasn't aware of his homosexuality at that point

It's still way more believable that one of of the Halpert babies shit their britches rather than a paternity test being completely wrong. You're discounting a reasonable explanation solely because they didn't show Pam wiping a baby's ass.

How would the Senator find out in that scenario? Why would Dwight go around telling people if it weren't his baby?

Idk, it just doesn't really make any sense unless Angela already knew that the baby was his, or strongly suspected.

I feel like they just forgot to sort it out. Any number of explanations are reasonable, given the range of things possible in the world of The Office.

Legally if the father gets a paternity test done by bringing in DNA the mother can tell the hospital to lie if it comes out positive and the hospital has to comply. That's likely the simplest explanation for the discrepancy: Angela told them to say it was false because she didn't consent to the test being done.

I guess, I'm just saying you can pretend any number of things if you want. Why not just assume Angela lied in season 9, and the baby really is the Senator's? The onyl reason not to is that in the last episode or two they make the baby eat paper and look at dwights battlestar galactica ship so it has to be his right?

he did the test without her knowing where or how due to mose's deception and they contacted him, not her

how would the hospital know? is angela's dna "in the system"?

Perhaps she wasn't at the time of conception, which is how she would know. A guy might not notice a month out, but the woman would. The baby was also born "prematurely".

Balrog0 posted...

Yeah, but that still fits within the possibility that it was Dwight's baby.

She did say she "lied" to him about the baby, when it was revealed that it really was, so it might have been written but not expanded on:

The show is great up until the Sabre stuff starts up. Like season 3-6 is when it's at its absolute best. Once they introduce Nelly and Gabe it just falls off a cliff.

I kind of like to think of Jim and Pam's wedding as my own series finale for the show.
