Yes an no. I think that even if you are serious/genuine you've ignored much advice and don't try to change and instead continue to post similar posts all the time. I haven't really paid attention to your posts to know if it's the same recently, but I can understand why some people might think you're a gimmick.

In short, even if you're genuine you've become a gimmick of yourself.

I don't, not any more. I think he's proven to most people here to be a joke account himself. It's just that earlier I was disqualified from a contest on a different board for being a gimmick, and it really rubbed me the wrong way. So I figured I'd ask.
I know helly used to claim I was, and that he had proof, and nurlen with his group of flunkies. It was months after they stopped that SMT picked up on it and started himself.

Because you guys are pretty much the closest things to friends I have. I like you guys, and care what you think. At least until it becomes clear that some of you hate me, then I eventually move on from that and stop caring what those posters think. It's the ones I'm still unsure about, or think like me that hurt when I find out otherwise.

Also, everything I've ever posted here has been genuine, and sincere. I haven't lied about anything, and while I do far more than my fair share of attention whoring, I'm not a gimmick.

Pretty much this... the problem is that it's easier said than done relative to the person, hence this situation. It's sort of a trap. He is who he is, which is partly why everything is how it is... I've known a lot of people that simply stuck their head in the sand because they could tolerate whatever unpleasant setting until something changed and gave them the motivation they needed. It could be a random opportunity, a new person entering their life (friend, family, SO), or simply that they had the rug pulled out from under them and the Stockholm Syndrome (or whatever, I dunno) went with it. Based on my experiences, life is a series of ruts with a few key spill-over points, some that you can choose to ignore and some that you can't.

I got a serious wakeup call when I moved out (and 2000 miles away) at 21 and a whole bunch of things totally outside my control went to shit after about two months. Big things, no less, and there wasn't much stability for about the next year and a half. It changed my outlook on life significantly over time, as the path I'd been travelling diverged at that point from the safe one I'd been going down. It's all about finding what motivates you to give that extra effort, and for me it was removing my safety net.

Personally, one of my motivations was proving the neurosurgeons low expectations were wrong in assuming I couldn't bounce back and relearn everything I lost after the stroke and coma.
And my biggest motivation for getting where I am is unhealthy stubbornness and defiance.. Defiance to accept the problem as an excuse for things being impassable or an excuse to slow down.
Realism is one thing, but accepting the situation as it was explained at the time, felt like a death sentence. I'd never be able to afford my corpse being shot into the sun if I had quit lol.

I don't really want to get into the full story, it'd just make me look worse here. But, in the end, due to unforseen circumstances, it actually turned out to be a good thing. Also, I am actually making him pay me back. He doesn't like it, and is making it slow($100-$200 per month), but at least I'm getting it back.

Your family needs to break ties with him, I'd suggest filing restraining orders before alerting him he's on his own.
I also suggest you video record the short periods when he's around for potential evidence in the off chance he acts up.

He's been behaving himself recently. He's known for a while we were moving, and his moods would swing from "Will you come visit me?" to "I'll kill you if you come back" but the closer the actual move got, the nicer he became. I really do think he's afraid to be alone.

Still, I convinced my mom to record the things he said before. She has them in her phone of him threatening to kill himself, or her and my cousin in their sleep. Oh yeah, he did say he wanted to poison the food and make my cousin sick the day he asked for money. He said he needs for people to fear him, and felt like none of us did any more lol.

That's why I think he's a gimmick himself. Plus the fact that he tends to adopt the gimmicks other users drop and add them in as his own. There's no way I believe he actually believes that stuff. I don't even believe he's as fat as he says, although he did look big in that one picture.
