Really? I have heard that the third one is the best gameplay-wise.

I enjoyed XIII. I didn't much care for XIII-2. XIII-3 was a garbage fire in every aspect.

I played the Demo of XIII-2 and XIII-3, 3 was the only one I could bother to finish the demo of. I still wouldn't call it great, but it was the better of the two I played.

I would say wait until it is cheaper, like maybe $15 - $20.

13-2 is one of my favorite games ever

13-1 cinematic but kinda slow, and 13-3 is just kinda weird but worth one playthrough

got each one for $20 each and that felt about right

LR - somehow, against all odds, even worse

The first one is enjoyable - good music and flashy with a compelling story. I didn't care for the sequels. You have to like electronic music and a story that mocks religion and faith in general to get into the 13 series, those turned a lot of people off. Also, the gameplay is very passive, it is more like an interactive story than a rpg.

Square fixed the issues that the PC versions had either frame rates and resolution, they are head and shoulders above both console versions.

13-2 is way better. they fixed almost all the issues people had with the first one

13-3 is garbage.

I like the first one a lot. The 2nd one is pretty good. The third, well, it's not for me. I'm not sure I think it's for anybody. Haha. JK. But honestly, I really didn't like it that much.

I actually had quite a lot of fun with XIII-2, and XIII was okay. Lightning Returns however is a fetid pile of crap of game, and I would sooner play almost anything else.

There is a trilogy set or remaster?

I have all three games, both physical and digital for all three games.
I also have every DLC.
However, I haven't played much of all three games yet though.
Nonetheless, I rate them, all three of them 9/10 each.

i've only really played the first one. never got to play the second and couldn't get into the third. time limit thing kinda killed my mood and I never picked it back up. I plan to. one day. maybe.

as far as the first one goes. I enjoyed it. if you are in it just for the story, you might enjoy it, depends on what you would think of the story, some hate it, some like it. (very few will say its the best FF story though)

if you really want exploration and towns to visit though, you're gonna have a bad time.

edit: oh and to add on the story, hope you don't mind reading if you really want to get into the lore.

It's a good deal. I'd go for it.

Might take you a bit to get used to the linearity of XIII, but I warmed up to it a few hours in, which isn't bad for an FF game. Thoroughly enjoyed XIII-2, but then I love time travel tales. I confess I haven't yet played more than the demo of #3 - I wanted to 100% the other two first. (Chronic fatigue really gets in the way of my gaming, I swear. And everything else. It's such a nuisance.)

$28 for the three is definitely worth it, though, even if you end up disliking one or two of the three - it would be a decent deal even for one game given today's prices for unused games!

Edit: For the record? I'm like you - I've played all the non-MMO FF games, with the exception of XV. If it helps at all, my top 3 are XII, IX and V (in no particular order).

I do think - contrary to a lot of the outright whining on this thread - that you should buy them at that price. It's financially a really good deal, even if you end up hating LR as people here say you will.

Let's be perfectly frank here... I think it's nothing short of stupid to say someone will hate something just because the person saying that hated it. Your taste in the series might be totally different from theirs. However you end up feeling about them, at that price even I would buy the set - and I'm on welfare for goodness' sake. (Or the equivalent, & not for unemployment, I don't want to start that fight.)

I preferred the second there the most, lol. It was a polarizing trilogy to say the least.

Its honestly worth $28. If you liked FFX, youll almost certainly get more than your moneys worth.

IDC what y'all think; I had fun with 13-3 and I really loved the battle system there (though I wouldn't shed a tear if they toned down on the fanservice outfit's). I can see why it may throw others off though: it's definitely a unique battle system that no FF, before or after, ever did. it's best described as XV's battle system, but with one party member, and a LOT more control over your skill setup, and spacing/defense actually matters (there ARE 'hold Square to shield' moments IIRC, but they are limited by your AP gauge).

At that point I completely tuned out whatever story 13 was trying to do, so maybe turning my brain off during cut-scenes contributed to my enjoyment (I literally do not recall any of the story between the introductory stuff and endgame. Just lots of fun fucking arond with monsters, sidequests, and the world).

Only real downer is the time limit. I go through games pretty slowly, but it never impacted my playthrough. But it's just an annoying thing to have looming over you regardless. Would have also been nice to have an actual party system and play as Fang/Snow/Noel/other guests, but there's plenty of strategy with Lightning so it's not bad.

I pretty much agree with the others, though. 13 is over-hated, but is overall just mediocre. 13-2 may be my least favorite FF side game ever, and making the true true ending paid DLC didn't help either.

overall, well worth $28. Maybe not the best use, but no one is going to say you're not getting your money's worth.

I wouldn't say I loved it. but I liked it. and I did love some moments. it is also the first FF game I at least somewhat like the entire cast. in every other one there is either one I find extremely annoying, just dislike them for some reason, or am indifferent towards them.
