If it were actually part of the series it would be my second favorite Harvest Moon game after HM64. Its really great, if you like that sort of game.

It was fun Year 1 -- like I couldnt stop playing for days on end -- but I felt like early in Year 2 the sheen wears off and it feels super monotonous.

Eh, I've been told that the most recent Harvest Moon games haven't been the same anyway. Some of them don't even involve all that much farming or town-socializing, which is like, the entire premise of these games. (Instead it's all dungeon crawling and dating sim, which while a perfectly acceptable niche, it's not really Harvest Moon persay.)

Not sure how true that actually is though, the last HM games I played were Friends/More Friends of Mineral Town and I enjoyed those just fine. Though it probably helped that my first HM game was Harvest Moon 64, so I might just be biased when it comes to any game that features those particular town folk. (Especially Elli and Kai.)
