I was gonna do a poll, but then I remembered exchange rates and shit, so fuck it. For this topic, let's say a single game

Includes: The game itself, DLC, microtransactions, add-on expansions and game-specific subscriptions.

Excludes: The console and any general online subscriptions (even if you only used them for that game), sales tax, shipping and standalone expansions.

Your call: Any special accessories. For example, I'd count RB/GH instruments towards the game you bought them packaged with, but not later games where you just bought the game only.

I don't know the exact amount, but it's probably Rocksmith 2014. The highest one I know the actual amount would be BotW and expansion pass, totaling $80. However, I gotta think RS is higher because of all the DLC songs I got. Probably right around $100.

Oh, The Sims could be higher. I think I had three or four expansion packs for that and IIRC they weren't standalone. But I don't know if I really bought any of the expansions at full price.

Uh, but does having three copies actually do anything over having one? I didn't really intend for this topic to be about buying the same game multiple times. But if you bought multiple copies of a game to do something like a system link game, I guess that would count

Whatever the most expensive SNES or N64 game ive bought was, since they could run over 60 bucks.

Usually i buy discounted/used games but ive never spent more than retail for a game such as a collectors edition or w/e.

A couple of hundreds for collectors editions of popular games like Uncharted, Dead Space, DoA Extreme 3 etc.
I have no idea what their cost would've been without sales taxes, shipping cost, customs declarations etc.

it came with online comicbook reading subscription which I got my money's worth from that

Probably spent a ton in the arcades on super turbo and 3rd strike. If we are talking about one time payment I guess steel battalion was most expensive, but I got that back when I sold it. The most expensive game I paid for and still own are probably KOEI strategy games with PUK. Those are kinda a ripoff and never go on sale.

Excluding dlc - 70 pr 80 bucks for marvel vs capcom 2 for the ps2. It was a rare game and i really wanted to have it amd play it. Still have it. Not sure if it was worth it then but eh, I was a kid with a job.

If you include dlc, it would probably be around that same price. I got super smash bros 4 with all the dlc (on both wii u and 3ds...), so that was probably about 80 to 90 bucks. Totally worth it imo.

I have the dark souls 3 dlc. Probably around the same price.

Those might be the only two games that I bought for full price with and bought the dlc for.

Years and years ago, when the MMORPG Maple Story first came out in North America, I joined the beta for it and eventually the full game. I kept playing for years, and I know I spent around $120 on the cash shop over that time.

I stopped eventually. Not really sure why. Partly because many of my friends from the game stopped, partly because it was boring to grind and I finally realized it was a job and not a game. I no long play MMORPGs, and if I spend any money on an otherwise free-to-play game, it's limited (max of $5-20) and I do it because I enjoy the game and want to support it.

Dragon age: Origins, full-price deluxe version. $~65, I think.

hmm i think its FFXI, considering I bought it twice, and had to pay the subscription ofc. Could also be GW2, since I bought the two expansions and a fairly significant amount of ingame currency.

Even if you exclude subscriptions (like instructed in the OP) just the base game with expansion costs, WoW is the leader by far with money spent.

I probably spent $120~ on CoD Blops II. I got my money's worth but I doubt I would do it again. I had a lot of friends playing CoD in those days. My friends all have lives now so I don't really do online gaming.

At this point, over $500 on Heroes of the Storm if you count a good chunk at Amazon points as part of that $500. It wasn't technically my money but there's other stuff I could've used it on so I count it.

That was fair market value when I bought it; if anything it was slightly on the cheap side.

Last one I saw a confirmed sell for went for just over $20k, so that seems to be the going value for them these days.
