You'll be sitting there grinding away as an underpowered character while a bunch of Korean players will all have the most expensive gear and characters and will be caning your ass. They're counting on you to give in and say "fuck it, it's only another $X". Same story with so many of these games. Like sure, you could get the most expensive walls on clash of clans, but it would take about 3 years. That game had some sick unlockables, but the catch was the only way to get them was to be a complete wizard at the game. Remember the achievement you felt finally getting the invisible and invincibility cheats? I remember being one of only two kids in my neighbourhood who had all the cheat codes. That was what achievement felt like in videogames. It's pretty shit these days that as soon as a game comes out there's no small amount of players running around with all the sickest gear because daddy had no problem putting up $1k worth of lootbox rewards on his credit card. It's pretty obvious that what they're going for is to keep players coming back. If they had the per match credit increase like people want, then players will have finished it all and not kept on coming into the game. Still scummy, but not the same kind of scummy the hivemind is saying it is. The concept of heroes being locked behind in-game credits is not something I think is an issue at all.
