Well COD did hit a rough patch, because there weren't much improvements between games and sales did fall. Though I think the recent COD improved sales, but I think that's more the WWII setting.

Plus COD isn't even the worst offender. Sport games like Madden are much worse.

They went from a completely random system where throwing cash at the game was literally basically the only guaranteed way to advance to what appears to be a hybrid "throw cash at the game to unlock crap faster except you have to wait dozens of hours to use it" system.

the points you use to buy weapons and heroes are tied to time played. Doing well in a game won't make progression faster, an AFKer gets the same points as someone dominating the top of the scoreboard.
unless you buy loot boxes, it's a long grind to unlock shit. people have broken it down.

The guy paid $80 for the deluxe edition or whatever (so basically he has already invested $20 into microtransactions right there and then) and it recently came out that with the way you earn in-game currency it will take 40 hours to unlock just Darth Vader as a hero. No idea if his version makes a difference with that.

I was pretty close to buying Battlefront 2 after the beta but ... don't know what the hell they are thinking. 16,200 now.

omg another post that they made:

Beta prices were lowered to allow players to experience all the Beta had to offer. Also it was a Beta/trial for us. We wanted to see how player progressed, how fast they unlocked content, etc. Beta was not a final product by any means. Like all Betas it was a learning experience in how our systems work, how players progress, etc.

Do they even understand how the system worked? How can there be "player progression" in a game where "progression" is measured entirely in random loot crates that a player has absolutely no control over?

Oh and when they say "gameplay minutes required", do they mean time actually spent in match playing? Because that time goes up probably by at least an hour or more, too, if you factor in matchmaking, loading times and post-match result screens...

EA was voted the Worst Company in America. Twice. Bad publicity is nothing new for them.

Battlefront 1 was rushed out for TFA and barely had any content. It still sold gangbusters. If you think this is going to have a major impact you'll be disappointed. At most EA might change it to 20 hours to unlock Vader instead of 40.
