I mean the same can be said for a ton of characters left but who knows, that's why we play the game.

Tidus has a bunch of people who really like him (and hate him, but more like than hate for sure) and I can see him beating a large number of that bottom half because yeah, they're cool characters but not necessarily large fan favorites

(I also don't think a lot of characters are likely to win this in this set but hey, if you're a fan feel free to prove me wrong)

Eh, Tidus would definitely get anti-repeat champ votes. I know people think Vivi winning just breaks that taboo altogether, but I think for this year, it just reinforced it.

If Tidus ends up in the finals against someone that really has no business getting that far, sure, he could win, but against the characters people think actually have a chance? Nah.

Well if I had to break it off I would say the top 5 on that list have the biggest chance and then 6-11 have a solid chance, 12-14 can win if given the right opponent, and past Red Mage it's almost slim to none unless the Lightning base really comes together (which I suppose it could, I feel like those two losses were to just strong opponents)

Top 3 clearly have a rift between them and the rest. Tifa doesn't have the backing of Squall.

best chances of winning "if" they make the finals? i could see it. but given the overlapping support, probably only one of them makes the top 10, and then who knows if that one can even make the finals.

That's my point....

Tifas backing is weaker because part of her backing is people who are maining Squall.

Squall would win. There is a large drop from Cloud and Squall to Tifa IMO because of that.

Laguna has been gaining some independent support lately, so I could see him making the top ten along with Squall or Tifa, but I don't think they'll all three make it.

But it means if the both make it she'd have no real chance... hence why I think there is a chasm between Cloud, Squall and Tifa.

and Tifa would have a better chance against Squall in the finals than you think because not everyone in that group prefers Squall to Tifa

I think Laguna is potentially pretty strong, then again I don't know the factions as well as others so I wouldn't be surprised if I was dead wrong

Squall couldn't even beat Zack. As much as I like Squall I feel like his chance of winning a final is pretty low with what's left. I mean I can't even positively say he could beat Minwu or Gau since they could get some "it would be hilarious if they won" votes

Eh, I don't think that loss to Zack is much of an indictment of Squall because Zack had a pretty large backing that year, say what you will about what he's done since then. He'd have beaten most characters that year.

A lot of the finals matches since raytan was dethroned/in the process of it were basically unbeatable forces. Nothing was stopping Marche or Steiner. Zack was a monster the year he won and was constantly gaining NR saves. Rydia and Cloud were also super strong and helping each other make the final so I don't think anything was really stopping them. I feel like Tidus and Kefka were also pretty strong, but not quite as much compared to the rest maybe
