I'm not interested in buying an Xbox One X at all but this is seriously impressive stuff. The improvements are obvious on a small YouTube video. At the very least the future of Xbox will be great at keeping their back catalogue.

Microsoft have wizards who work on their emulation I guess. The extra juice helps too. They already had to emulate these games on a standard Xbox One. Since they've managed to do that they have a lot more headroom for the Xbox One X.

It probably helps that the 360 didn't have some batshit crazy architecture too.

The same way emulators on PC can add things like aliasing to improve the image quality.

It really does show how much IQ and resolution can impact a game visually. It could pass as a current gen game.

Xbox One X is easily the closest a console has come to copying how PC handles their back catalogue. It's good to see.

With how much of a cluster fuck the Cell CPU and architecture was it's really not so much of a "would" as it is a "could".
The PS4 legitimately most likely physically isn't capable of bc with the PS3 and even if they did there'd likely be a lot of unpredictable issues that make bc QA hard.

I wish they'd make PS1, PS2, and PSP titles available on the PS4 though.

Considering Sony doesn't seem to give a shit about their PS1 titles and decided to re-charge users for the enhancements made to the PS2 titles I doubt Sony would have tried to emulate the PS3 anyway.

EB Games in Australia has a decent trade-in deal for the Xbox One S. I'm guessing the Xbox One OG would get next to nothing lol.

If I got a really good deal maybe I'd consider it but I don't really see that happening.

I saw an ad that had an Xbox One S brand new for like $180. Getting $100 credit for on original Xbox One is really about as good as could be expected.

You can just put them in and it will download an update. If you own them digitally they're added to your Xbox One Game Library and you can just download them. You do not need to rebuy any OG Xbox games or 360 games that have been added to Xbox One BC.

Only a handful of games have been Xbox One X enhanced though.
Gears of War 3
Halo 3
Skate 3
Mirrors Edge
Fallout 3
Assassin's Creed
Elder Scrolls: Oblivion

There is a also list of 360 games that have been emulated on standard Xbox One. Not every single 360 game is supported but the list is pretty big.

These are the ones with the huge IQ and resolution upgrades.

I checked in my local EB store here in Australia and I'd get $170AUD for trading in the Xbox One with 1 game if I upgrade to either the S or X. That's better than I thought.

Maybe I'll trade it in along with some other old crap to at least get the S. I would only be willing to get an Xbox One X if I didn't need to spend more than $200 and it's $649 here so that would be unlikely.

Their Windows 10 Store seems better than it used to be. Still not great though. I wish they retroactively added Play Anywhere stuff like they do with BC.

Not really. The end goal is to be more competitive in the hardware market like apple. XBox is a vector for that to get you trapped in the Windows ecosystem the same way buying an iPhone makes you get iTunes and such.

So I did this and I got enough for an Xbox One X. Paid $150. Out of stock so I'm getting it next week. *shrugs*

I don't even have a 4k TV but I was happy to trade in all of this stuff. Turns out I got $180 for the OG Xbox One 500GB which I thought was pretty good on its own.

I've got a good console for Red Dead Redemption 2 at the very least.
