If you're for sure only going to be watching anime, which will be the case for a lot of people, then starting with Fate/Zero is absolutely the way to go.

Watching Kizumonogatari 2. Definitely thought this was inferior to the first Kizu movie (animation isn't as good), and still falls short of the book. When I was reading the book I really thought it would work better on the screen due to the action focus, but everything feels so much shallower. Especially Hanekawa. I've never been a huge Hanekawa fan, but I've always liked her, and she has some amazing moments. She's just so much lesser in Kizu than in the other series. Her changed character design is way worse than her original character design too.

I can't comment on the book, but I did think the first Kizu movie was the best of the 3. I thought the first movie was very markedly not-shallow. I don't think I'd quite say the same thing about movies 2 and 3, though I did think those were also good. Overall it was probably one of my favorite arcs from the series? That's hard to say though because there's a lot of good ones in there.

(1 > 3 > 2 is my Kizu movie ranking for the record)

Started watching The Ancient Magus Bride today. (2 episodes into the main series--did not watch the prequel because I'm told there are spoilers)

Pretty big fan of this series so far. I'm not necessarily expecting a 10/10 emotional masterpiece or something, but just the atmosphere of this show is really great to watch. I'm a fan of the way it juxtaposes relatively normal human interactions with a world filled wit fantasy and intrigue, and it does it in a way many fantasy series end up falling short on. Also while I'm not completely sold on this aspect yet, the chemistry of the main duo has so far been pretty good.

The show reminds me a little bit of Spice and Wolf actually, which is interesting because I was just recently lamenting that I was "never going to watch another show quite like Spice and Wolf". The fantasy elements of this show are much more central than in Spice and Wolf, but I think there are similarities nonetheless.

The show has finally started getting a hard plot which is nice. One of the best for the season.

The spoilers in the OVAs are just, like.....there's one character who ends up staying with them, that's about it. I would actually reccomended watching it, it's almost entirely a prequel in flashback.

I liked her in Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun. Then I heard her in Death Parade and it was annoying. Then she got a main role in The Perfect Insider and it was really grating to listen to.

Speaking of awful voices, anybody still watching Black Clover? Seems some people still have hope because the manga is a lot better and it could turn it around, but all signs are that the anime is butchering it.

I'm watching it with my friend, but it's more like a sense of duty since I'm very invested in the magazine and the battle shonen genre in general.

I need to see it through for science, at least reading it.

Eh the anime looks very nice so I don't think it's butchering it out right. But it is slow as hell.

Less than one chapter per episode on average for a shounen battle anime. A couple panels less than one page in length being turned into an entire episode.

Could be the nicest looking show in the world, that's still butchering.

These days I find myself strongly favoring a good budget or at least style.

The some anime has been largely disappointing in that regard. Nice screen caps but it's very visually boring unless food is on screen.

I'm actually hearing good in regards to the latter for that URAHARA show this season, which I did ignore because of it's very noticeably small budget. May have to go back and check that out.

I find One Piece is still watchable, and terrific, but I prefer to watch in marathons of at least 30+ episodes at a time. Often more like 100+ episodes at a time. It would be nice if they just had an off-season and paced it faster, but to me it feels not quite as slowed down as DBZ was, and people still dug DBZ.

On the Fate/ talk earlier, I had been planning on watching UBW and then Fate/Zero. Is there any downside to doing that? I had seen a couple episodes of the earlier Fate Stay Night anime and hear it's just okay, so was probably going to skip to the UBW version.

Since there are 3 versions of a story (routes from a game), I can get that seeing all the possible paths would make you see all the possibilities, but generally just one way through a story that is well done would be enough for me. Or at least a starting point.

As far as anime only this is definately NOT the way to go. The Ufotable stuff is written in a way that very much intends for you to watch it in their order. Enormous plot points for Zero are casually dropped through UBW.
