I played whatever version was the first for North America to get like 7 million copies, meaning over 20+ million North Americans experienced a game where they became attached to a young pretty girl named Aeris (when accounting for selling used copies, letting friends borrow a copy, and letting your little brother or friends watch you play).

We'd go to school, sit at our lunch tables, and talk about FF7. We'd literally be saying the name Aeris hundreds of times each in the span of one lunch period, because all we talked about was FF7. That's how ingrained into American culture that name is.

It's not okay to even entertain the idea that we can accept a changed name. Sure, maybe a video game character ain't a big deal to you. But what about when they come for your favorite movies? Hey guess what? His name wasn't Luke Skywalker all along. His real name is Fuckface. You'd feel like shit if everyone started calling him Fuckface in front of you, wouldn't you? Because that's not his name to you. So it's like you're receiving damage. I just want society to stop damaging me is my point.
