Here's a great idea

Let's focus one entire season on 48 hours for a wedding and then HAVE THE COUPLE DIVORCE IN THE NEXT EPISODE

You know what hurts the most is that they literally had the ending everyone wanted IN THE FREAKING EPISODE. Its one thing if you miss the mark entirely but they didn't do that. The ending was right there, let Ted and Tracy have their conversation at the train station, say "and that's how I met your mother" and roll credits. HIMYM is probably the worst finale of all time that had a good ending right there for the taking.

Only problem with if they had used that ending was there'd be no explanation for that flash forward scene where Ted and Tracy are talking about Robin's mother showing up, and Tracy says of course she did, what mother wouldn't go to her daughter's wedding and Ted stops and starts crying...she was clearly already dying at that point

Actually, you could argue that maybe they were finally going to get married and her mother refused to come to the wedding over some drama. It still works.

Better than throwing the whole last 2 seasons down the crapper in 5 minutes

I should rewatch that show, now that I've seen the whole thing. Would be nice to see some things I hadn't picked up on.

It's actually worse, it ends with Ted trying to win back Robin by bringing her the blue french horn, leaving their actual fate up in the air. We don't even know if she takes him back.

Also, Ted's voice changes for no reason at the end.

Yeah, having him not be portrayed by Bob Saget when they showed Future Ted really annoyed me considering how good the show usually was with continuity.

Oh, they are jerks anyway. When their father asks to finally sit them down and tell them about their mother, they complain. When he finishes, their first instinct is, "Geez, dad, fuck mom, just go bone auntie Robin!".

It would have been a nice way to bring it full circle if they didn't spend several seasons explaining that Ted and Robin will never end up together and having him move on from her
