EA is waiting until Nintendo Switch has been on the market for a full year before deciding whether to release more games for it besides "FIFA 18", the company's finance chief Blake Jorgensen tells WSJ.

Jorgensen says it's too soon for EA to judge the success of FIFA 18 on the device and wants "to fully understand what the demand is," for the Switch before committing more resources to it.

They could easily toss on something like Peggle and watch the money come rolling in. EA has a ridiculous narrow view on the industry and this is yet another example.

I'd buy the Mass Effect trilogy re-release for Switch tbh. Sims 4 as well.

I don't think anyone would buy FIFA unless they're a fanatic who wants both the PS4/Xbox One and Switch version. Maybe it would sell more if they offered cross saves or had a cheaper price or something.

This is the main factor for me. NBA 2K18 and WWE 2K18 have barely any trimmed features on the Switch compared to the other console versions because 2K actually gives a damn about how the Switch version sells. But EA's severely gimped FIFA 18 doesn't hold up at all, and they'll probably use it as an excuse to not put in any effort and just give the Switch more gimped versions of their other sports games, if they even continue to support the Switch at all.

Being portable is enough of a plus to deal with worse graphics and a couple minor features trimmed, but not enough to deal with a butchered, half-assed mess of a game.

Oh yeah I don't mind lesser graphics in Madden for example, I don't need grass physics or whatever. But I gotta have a full franchise mode.

EA makes more money on DLC than games: They release barebone games. And then the buyers must spend money on DLCs in order to get a decent game out of it.

EA doesn't care about what they can do for the customers, it's what the customers have to do to make them happy.

If I'm remembering an old GI article correctly, EA pretty much exists in its current form because Nintendo boxed them out of making games for the NES / SNES, so they reverse-engineered a Genesis and pretty much forced Sega to buy their games. So I have to imagine there's a lot of bad blood there.
