I just want to shoot off an email an hour before my shift start to say I quit effective immediately

It's terrible, rude, and burns all bridges. But damn do I just want to do it and never have to show up there again. I deserve any shit that comes my way after I do it (if I get the balls to do it, even)

What kind of job is it?

I work at a grocery store and I'm about ready to tell any manager that looks at me funny to eat shit. Might be worse than sending an email. Might also blur the line between quitting and getting fired, lol.

The question is: Why? Whats the impetus to wanting to burn the bridges?

Realized how poor of a fit this job is, organizationally and mission-wise. Burning the bridge won't affect my future career opportunities (unrelated field; won't ask for references). Supervisors who are themselves disorganized and expect others to read their minds to pick up the slack.

Then of course I'm a full-time student, and I really need more time for my coursework now. The quantitative rigor is reeeeal right now and as much as I like having the income, I think I need to prioritize school again.

I've been contemplating it for about a week, and made up my mind last Friday lol. I was just stuck on when to do it. At first I told myself I could suck it up until the end of the quarter but after this midterm week I dunno if my grades can afford that.

Although I don't like it when it happens. I think it's best to leave something that just isn't a fit for you; And that's after giving it an honest try. Being a full time student though is a valid excuse to not have a job and if they were to ask you why you quit the job you can tell that you were a student and needed to focus on the task ahead over work.

Walked in a few minutes late, walked right up to the manager, "oh Hey Ryan, seems you're a bit late today" yeah I quit. The look on dudes face was worth the 10 minute drive.

I can't help but feel bad, but I know you're right. I've been talking to my parents about it and they're supportive of it. I really hate quitting things I take on and I suck at saying "no". I remember the first time I tried to quit a job (the boss was seriously manipulative and overbearing with the work), I started crying and she convinced me to stay on for longer lol.

I'm a push-over. This is something that I realize is awful but it also feels like I'm taking up for myself.

Oh yeah, I kept it succinct and included standard pleasantries. I cited my falling academic performance for my reason to part ways and that I enjoyed working alongside the tutors and students.
