I wrote a lot of stuff that stems from my feelings of inadequacy but deleted it, as it came off as too much self pity and I'll try to keep it focused to this one point. If people stick around I can bring up some other ones later.

The point mentioned in the topic title is I am single and don't really think I'll ever get in a relationship as I feel I bring nothing to the table. I see myself as a incredibly boring person and a person that would bring anything interesting and fun into my life would be weighed down by me.

So I tell myself I'll just focus on self improvement but I don't really give it my all.

Why do you think you have to be interesting? Why can't you just be someone who's pleasant to be around? Do you have friends you just shoot the shit with or what?

That's a good point. I don't really know how to explain why I think I have to be interesting. I used to have friends where we would hang out all the time but everyone kind of went their separate ways and I never found a new group. Wasn't very deep friendships besides a few I still keep in contact with. Most of my daily interaction outside of work is on a discord server. (Two now)

Thanks! Well I do want a better job (for money) which would probably require at least a technical college or something, but I don't know what I want to do. A social activity huh... Good idea

Someone equally as boring as me doesn't leave their house either ( at least I would think so). By being outwardly interesting do you mean faking it.

I do that, too; except I just have no energy to focus on doing so because of my lack of energy due to my crippling loneliness and lack of friends.

Most folk are boring to be fair. They talk about the same things all the time. Moaning about work, relationships(or lack off) and other mundane things. I do however believe everyone has at least one passion that they know a lot about and enjoy talking about so perhaps focusing on that/those will help. Maybe it's a obvious answer here but being as this is a AMA I'll just ask what are you passionate about?

Try to say yes to new experiences (that are legal, of course ) so you can be more fun.

Anime/Manga - I buy the first volumes of mangas I like, but other than that you wouldn't know I'm a fan unless I started talking about it.

Video games (even though I don't play a large variety any more),

Food - I've started cooking more and in Louisiana everyone likes talking about different foods and places to eat, how to make stuff the right way etc

I like golf, but haven't played in 2 years at least... I like a lot of the less popular sports. And find tournaments for "sports" or games I've never heard of on youtube intrigues me.

I enjoy my time "alone" hanging out with "friends" online in discord. So part of both, I'm not really going to be suggesting many fun things to do. I like bowling but I'm mediocre. And as I don't have many friends anymore I don't really get invited to stuff but when I used to my predisposition was not wanting to go. More often than not I'd participate and enjoy myself though. Hope that answers, if not feel free to ask more.

existentialism hits hard about then. Wondering if you have anything to high five to the world, wether its a fruitful career or having children or whatever.

Kinda, you don't have to be interested in things to be interesting. You just have to express your views on stuff and by the nature of you being someone else, your unique take is inherently interesting.

Interesting people just express themselves more, they don't usually do anything of note.

Talk to your female friends and look to them for advice. That's my biggest advice to every guy that has this problem.

Just find a boring woman to match.
