Typical delivery order will add a 15% tip on top of a $3-5 delivery fee, so a chunk of change for a big order and a 50% markup on a small one. Plus most big discounts are pickup only.

My wife: "But, but, this one pizza place we never ever eat at whose prices are higher and quality is lower has no delivery fee!!"

Yup. Paying that much for something I could do myself and getting the food 30 minutes ~ 1 hour earlier outweighs the convenience of delivery for me. I don't get it.

Yeah, if you're drunk, delivery is a very pragmatic choice.

Also if you're just lazy. Depending on location and traffic, getting pizza can be a 40 minute round trip.

At least as a former waiter, I feel an absolute need to tip for delivery, regardless of 'fee'.

Never seen a place charge delivery here unless you are getting something really cheap.

Am glad I don't need tip either really, as they get paid a wage and don't use their own car.

Yeah, I suppose maybe its kind of regional and maybe in a big city it would be a pain to have to drive around in heavy traffic to get your food, but here most of the regular places I order from are less than 10 minutes away. Once in a blue moon I will get food delivered from a restaurant farther away that is in a heavier traffic area if I'm really not feeling like venturing out, but that's probably like two or three times a year.

the people most directly impacted by my drinking have been very forgiving and most others were surprised by the decision, in part because they were usually blacked out themselves when i got too drunk

I've always considered it a waste of money. Any place that will deliver to you is reasonably close enough to drive yourself in less time than it would take for a delivery person to get to you.

protip: buy yourself a hot/cold bag large enough to fit the pizza inside of and you'll get your pizza cheaper, faster AND just as hot. win/win/win

my biggest gripe with getting carryout was that it would cool off on my drive home. but i have since solved that problem with the wonders of modern technology.

i hate getting delivery, only on the fact that the delivery fee doesn't go to the driver (or even at least 1$ of it anyway).

plus it's only a 10 minute walk to the pizza hut if i even on the rare chance even buy one.

Yep. You can also check to make sure they didn't screw your order up. My last two experiences ordering from dominos:

1. The guy brings one pizza instead of two
2. The same guy forgot a drink and thing of sauce

I've got so many free apology desserts that I don't even know what to do with them (they make sure to give you a dessert instead of a pizza, because this way I may be tempted to actually order another one with my free dessert)

i didnt want to make a big deal of it anywhere

i am still brewing, just not for me anymore

so i am not gonna make anymore 100% smoked malt rauchbiers or other 'darkman only' kind of beers

my next 2 on tap are a dry cider and an amber ale with no additives

i am prob gonna do a vanilla porter this winter and a dubbel as well, but i'm keeping the beers simple and impossible to screw up since there's nobody left to drink my shit batches

i keg and we have ~1 party with 30-40 guests/month so it's a good way to provide a ton of booze on the cheap
