I don't really see as Goonies being an 80's movie it's just an awesome adventure movie. Same with Die Hard and action flick. I feel this way about a lot of the movies that are being listed here (Indiana Jones, Ghostbusters, ET, Aliens, Back to the Future, Princess Bride, Return of the Jedi, Bladerunner). Like...I know they came out in the 80s cause I remember when a lot of them were new, but I just remember them as movies that were good, not as something really oozing distinctiveness of the era. On the other hand, Neverending Story is a movie I remember being a big, big deal to us as kids (like we cared more about it than Star Wars) that literally everyone promptly forgot about a decade later, like, literally nobody talked about it in the 90s even. Here's a taste I still remember pretty much...all of those scenes >_> --- Cats land on their feet. Toast lands peanut butter side down. I don't know about "most," but best 80s films are Above the Law and RoboCop.

I don't think Die Hard is really an "80s movie." Computers, lax security at airport, Holly's hair. I'm surprised no one has mentioned the first Terminator yet (or maybe I missed it). Back to the Future is a good answer. Maybe Scarface? --- "Nothing I could do!" -Darksydephil ... Copied to Clipboard!

Back to the Future is definitively 80s, even if is a great adventure film on its own. But when the entire premise is getting the main character back to 1985, ya its pretty 80s. There are hundreds of 80s vs 50s, gen X vs silent generation differences shown. Then it all comes back to showing the similarities between us and our parents
