HaRRicH 10/20/17 8:50:23 PM #1:	Have we really not had a topic on this yet? Maybe I missed it. I imagine all of our Facebook feeds have been flooded from women sharing their stories about sexual harassment. I've not heard much from the male perspective though, aside from the guys saying "I'm here for you ladies, whatever you need"...you know who they are. So, like, what have ya'll taken away from this? I'll start with a few angles. A guy wouldn't stop pinching my ass in a production of Rocky Horror Picture Show backstage, and I didn't know how to make him stop without punching his face inside-out. I held back from that because it's a sexually charged show and I didn't know if he just didn't get it that this wasn't okay here or what. Recently, I found out his job created an HR department because of his behavior. Cut it out dude, fuck you. I've tried to do some harder self-reflections too since this #metoo wave was largely more about women being harassed by men than men being harassed. Years ago I was super-drunk (not a worthy excuse) and asked an old friend I bumped into at the club that night to dance...and we had very diferent ideas of what kind of dance we were gonna do. She got uncomfortable and quickly walked away. My friends cheered and hollered about my boldness that night and I didn't stress about the moment until probably a few weeks later. She and I talked a few times since then but I haven't seen her anymore, so I shot her a message today being real brief but apologizing about that night -- she didn't remember the incident but accepted the apology. Weird feeling. There's also the stuff people didn't do themselves, but they have an awareness of it happening around them and they don't speak against the culture for any number of reasons. I'll just say hazing's a problem. Women are doing their part to identify bad behavior and stop accepting it. I'm working on my part to be better as well. Are you other men getting anything similar out of this? I think one thing that is interesting is the blurry line of consent. Everything we learn about romance seems to teach us that spontaneity is prized above caution and clear communication. Saying 'is it okay if I grab your tit/kiss you' is just not as hot as doing it - and when the recipient does consent, it seems great. --- yet all sailors of all sorts are more or less capricious and unreliable - they live in the varying outer weather, and they inhale its fickleness <cite>SeabassDebeste posted [p:888825974] in #metoo...
