Poll of the Day > Ever play Street Fighter 2010? It doesn't look bad

I know it's become a joke since it's not really a Street Fighter game and takes place in 2010, which was an implausible year even when the game came out (1990), but it looks like a decent, though hard, game in the style of Mega Man. It has some good music, too.

I might think differently if a lot of its difficulty comes from bad play control. Is that the case? I haven't actually played it.

i played it. it's pretty bad for a nes game.

i feel like it was trying to go for a ninja gaiden feel, but missed it.

I played it years and years ago, long before the AVGN video. I remember it being kind of confusing to pick up the feel of the controls (granted I was playing on an emulator with a keyboard) and I eventually just kind of gave up on it halfway through after save state scumming for a hour.

In general, I'm not a huge fan of forced sidescrolling. It's okay as a limited gimmick, but it can get annoying fast.

its hard but awesome if you can get used to the weird controls. some levels are boring, but a lot are just plain awesome.

not sure that video is a great example since the guy is wtfpwning everything in sight.

It's an ok game. It looks a lot better than it is. When I first saw it I also thought that it was gonna be a hidden gem kind of thing, but it's really not.

Do you think he's using some cheat code? I thought that the World of Longplays videos were created without any cheating.

no, I mean he's just good. but it's not a good example of what playing the game would be like, until you become an expert at it. it's like watching a naked dark souls speed run or something. it's impressive, but it's not really giving you a genuine experience of what playing the game is like, especially for the first time or two. the actual challenges a learning player has to face don't really come through in that kind of video.

I have fond memories of that game busting my balls back in the day. IMO, it is fun once you get used to the controls, but it is very difficult. One of the hardest I have played, in fact, but beating it provided a major sense of satisfaction. If you can take down 2010, you can rest assured that you are not bad at video games.

I've never replayed it as an adult, but as a kid it was too hard to even do anything or get started
