all 4 of them

I'm actually a little upset, because I finally got a weekend job and I'm supposed start on Saturday
The dentist told me I'll be ok as long as I take some pain medicine but literally everyone else told me I won't be ok

What do you guys think? Will I be ok? I already shaved my glorious beard because it was a requirement :(

Yeah I heard about it

First off, the website pulled the story from "Inside sources" which means they pulled it out of their own ass
every site after that cited the same shitty ass unreliable site which has a history of just being plane wrong. Secondly, this almost 15 years ago, the girl basically said "Yeah he totally said mean things to me"

Youll likely have moments of soreness. I wouldnt wanna work the following day if there is much physical activity or talking involved. Also, there is a chance of a dry socket developing, which can be very painful. Its very easily treatable, but you cant get it treated if youre at work.

Also, what kind of job?

Make sure you take proper care so you won't get dry sockets.

I got those and it was just THE WORST.

OH MY GOD. I literally couldn't sleep some nights because there was so much throbbing pain in my mouth.

Not even the opiate level pain meds helped that much.

The second time i went by myself and filled the prescriptions myself and got the painkillers, but i didnt need them

I was given Vicoden at the time (before they started adding Tylenol to it so you can't take as much). My prescription was literally "take as needed", 2 refills of 50 pills but I ended up getting more.

My doctor was an old man that either didn't know better or didn't care and I was too young to realize the danger. Also I was in high school and would do pretty much anything to get high.

I had my wisdom teeth removed last year. You absolutely will not be fine by Saturday. It's going to hurt a ton for a couple of days, and you'll be sore for at least a week.

Are you being put unconscious? Most people are, but it's not necessary. I saved like 400 dollars by staying awake. I was numbed up just fine and it only took like 45 minutes. Are you being prescribed opiates after? Also not really needed. As long as you take care to not get dry socket afterward, you should be able to just endure pain for a couple of days and then ibuprofen will dull it enough to be tolerable afterward. It's much safer.

Btw, I got my wisdom teeth removed at 17. One part of the procedure (I think the bottom left tooth?) hurt like hell, but the others came out really easily.

I was in a lot of pain after the fact on the first day after the numbing agents wore off, but I was fine the next morning without any problem. I was even eating crunchy food (very carefully) too.

So it's not all bad.

A blood clot will form over the bone when the tooth is removed. If you don't disturb the clot, you'll be okay. They will give you a little squirty thing that'll shoot water into your empty sockets so you can clean the area gently. Don't chew stuff there or bother it with things that aren't gentle, and don't suck too hard on anything. You could disturb and dislodge that blood clot.

If you do, it'll expose your bone directly. That's apparently horrifyingly painful, lasts several days to weeks, and no amount of medicine dulls the pain. That's what I've been told anyway. I didn't get dry socket.

It's so weird when you're put under. Awake one moment then awake and confused the next.

A water pick might be ok if you can use it at a lower pressure. When I had my wisdom teeth out (when I was 12, 18 years ago) they gave me a syringe with a curved tip to rinse the socket area. I didn't get dry sockets. My gums still have noticeable scarring.

You probably aren't going to feel up to doing work tomorrow. While you could do it, pay attention to your body and don't push yourself. Keep in mind your going to feel fucked up from anesthesia for a while, you lost blood, and dental surgery can be physically traumatic. More than that you may not be able to eat as normal and won't have the same energy.

I left gauze in for like a day. You need it there to help the blood clot form. I spit plenty of blood out though.

You'll probably be fine. It's going to hurt really badly for several days. If that picks up dramatically and becomes mind-shattering, then you'll know you got dry socket. But likely you'll be fine.

Basically what SushiSquid already said.

Don't suck on anything during the first few weeks, since that creates negative pressure in your mouth and might dislodge the blood clot.

Also, don't drink or eat anything too hot, since that might also dissolve the blood clot. (This is where I fucked up. I had hot soup for dinner like a day after the surgery. Little did I know, I was melting the blood clot. 2 days later, I woke up to HORRIBLE pain in my mouth).

Basically, don't do anything that might irritate or agitate the site too much.

If you DO get dry sockets, inform your dentist/oral surgeon IMMEDIATELY.

Pain meds WON'T be enough to deal with it (trust me). And there isn't really anything the dentist can do to treat it, they can just dull the pain for a few hours.

For that they'll give you a special clove oil based ointment that you have to apply to the site. It basically numbs ALL feeling in that area for a few hours. It also tastes nasty and is caustic enough to put blisters on your tongue if you apply too much.

SO yeah, better to be super careful and take proper care.
