Getting more into this now that I'm starting to build to actual changes on SD at least. Kinda wanted a baseline established on so I could know if I was making the show better. Also to have vaguely realistic transitions (into unrealistic storylines!)

To varying degrees you can.

I know you can accurately simulate Kurt leaving the match and coming back. And Braun being attacked by Kane. I think "Braun being removed from the match" doesn't quite cover it but I haven't played around TEW 2016 that much so maybe there are enough overbooking modifiers that you can apply to make it come off as a sufficiently ridiculous.

Though by the time this next PPV is going I'm actually going to be deviating. Maybe I'll try to make this match happen anyway though just to see how much all the overbooking penalties gut the rating (or maybe it'll be the rare time it actually helps-- but I think I've only ever had that successfully work once in a cage match between Steve Austin and Eric Bischoff. Every other time I've done it it seemed to penalize.)

Reigns taunts Cena, who is not there, drawing parallels to Cena mocking Rock for being there 'via satellite.' Strowman himself interrupts Roman Reigns, saying if he wants to see Cena face to face, he'll send him to the hospital too! Smackdown Week 3 Sept 2017

Shane cuts a promo on Owens, and condemns Owens to hell... in a cell!!! (71)

Randy Orton d. Aiden English. (65) We see a montage. Rusev has returned to Bulgaria to train to redeem himself for his Summerslam loss. Many scrawny bulgarians attempt to RKO him. He is throwing them all off! What a man! (77)

Dillinger attacks Corbin in the leg when he's about to answer the US Title Open Challenge. (51) AJ Styles defeats Baron Corbin easily because of his leg injury. (67)

Randy Orton comes across Shinsuke Nakamura backstage. Asks where the hell Shinsuke was last week. Nakamura calmly says he turned the TV off when Jinder came on, but he would've had Orton's back. Orton still looks angry, but reluctantly accepts that answer, and takes Nakamura aside to PLOT. (93)

We see a brief recap of Ziggler's claims of having a hot new entrance to debut 3 weeks ago. He has not been here since! Nattie gets Catty with Charlotte. Charlotte challenges her to a match. Natalya says there are tons of contenders and she couldn't possibly just gives one away. Daniel Bryan comes out, agrees, and makes a 4 way for the number one contendership Nattie is livid! (59)

Charlotte Flair d. Becky, Tamina, Naomi to challenge for the Women's Championship at HiaC (48)

Jinder Mahal is out there. He has ascended beyond the standard contenders Orton and Shinsuke. He will begin hosting open challenges from now on, not to be outdone by AJ Styles, to show what a dominant champion he is.

Orton and Nakamura rush out to shut him up! But Orton stops just short of the ring, leaving Nakamura to face Mahal and the Singh Brothers alone. However, Shinsuke beats the hell out of the brothers successfully alone, runs off Mahal, and stands tall. He beckons to Orton to beat up some dead Singh brothers if he wants. Orton takes this better than you'd expect, obliges, and RKOs them. He teases RKOing Nakamura as well, but Nakamura sorta sways back and does the "I see you" gesture. (66)

I'm not ready for Rusev to enter a feud with Orton yet since he's still involved with Mahal, but there's POTENTIAL there.
Of course the Mahal storyline continues to go off the rails from stupid racism promos as you can see by me actually writing some segments up. I like how a segment with just Nakamura & Orton gets 93, then you add Jinder and his goons and it drops to 66. Realism !
No Ziggler entrances, but a reminder he did cut those stupid promos forever ago promising an entrance.

There are a few ways to go with it. Almost all of them better than what we got, which was kind of a half measure between two separate gimmicks (that would both be better if they went all the way towards one). All of them (including the one we got!) better suited to debut closer to a PPV than on a 6 week stretch of build too.

I would have done the Shane McMahon segment for sure, and the Taker segment as well. But I would have also done CM Punk, too. And, honestly, I would consider doing Eddie Guerrero.

Also just for the record I'm considering WWE itself a "backseat booker" in this diary even after this point, despite not using their show cards as the basis for my shows anymore.

Now of course, I'm going to be pretty liberal with changing stuff, but if WWE does an idea I like, I will probably use it in some form. I imagine the longer it goes the less often we're going to be able to even have any sort of overlap just because I'll have diverged too much for their storyline to make any sense, but you know.

That and PRIZES will probably involve giving some control directly (The prize is already in mind I just don't want to reveal it yet as it spoils PLOTZ to reveal it so early), so yeah, input is definitely welcome.

No Mercy September 2017

Standard opener. The Miz defeats Jason Jordan to retain his IC Title. No BS win, just a clean skull crushing finale. (62)

Renee Young is backstage with John Cena. She asks if he's still having any lingering effects from Braun's assault with the ring steps two weeks ago. Cena says yeah he can still feel it, cause Braun is a monster among men, but he's just going to have to push through the pain to beat Roman tonight. (68)

Neville vs Enzo. Neville dominates for 3 minutes, then Enzo stumbles into the referee after getting kicked hard in the face. Ref staggers back, rubbing his eyes, Enzo kicks Neville square in the nuts and grabs the tights to win the Cruiserweight Title. (56) Enzo goes completely over the top with a celebration. Corey Graves berates it for being ridiculous and the others can't entirely disagree this time. (87)

Alexa Bliss d. Nia Jax, Emma, and Sasha to retain. Nia wipes out everyone, then is 3v1'd out of the match, triple powerbombed to the floor. Emma takes the pin. (49)

Finn Balor d. Bray Wyatt clean. (72)

Cesaro & Sheamus v Ambrose & Rollins. Plays out identically to the original match, including Cesaro biting the ring post. However, when Rollins is super powerbombed from the top rope onto Ambrose, Ambrose stays down. Cesaro & Sheamus win the titles. (81)

Renee is backstage with Roman. Without a prompt, he goes into detail about the tremendous pain he's experiencing from two power slams this Monday, and says he has to head to the ring before she can ask further questions. (71)

Roman vs Cena. Cena is clearly having issues with his back the whole match. Roman seems more or less fine despite his diatribe before the match. Cena can't keep Roman down with his AA, then struggles doing his rolling AA, dropping Roman, who capitalizes on this slight hesitation, spearing him dead for the win. (75) Roman helps Cena up after the match, giving him an almost patronizing look, but offers his hand in a handshake. Cena accepts... during the handshake, Roman says... "hey, better luck next time, champ" with a smirk. Cena shakes his head, pulls Roman in and lays Roman out with an AA. The audience cheers this. Cena takes in the cheers, thanking the audience excessively and making it seem like he may be gone for some time, and heads to the back... Roman slowly recovers and is like "what the hell was that for?" (80)

Braun and Brock have a ridiculous match. An opening Running Powerslam has Braun in the driver's seat immediately. Braun uses some of Brock's down time to push two of the announce tables around ringside closer to the ring in parallel with one another. Brock resists with some suplexes, but ultimately Braun is undeterred. Towards the end of the match, Braun hurls Brock from the ring over the top and through the two announce tables. The ref doesn't call for the bell as the announcers explain they've been told to have some leniency. Braun hurls Lesnar back into the ring, hits some more 1... 2... 3... 4... Running Powerslams. Lesnar is coughing up blood, clearly no longer defending himself. The ref calls for the bell. Braun wins the title after about 10 minutes of this chaos. (66)

Braun Strowman celebrates his win. A clearly severely wounded Brock Lesnar stumbles to his feet, LIVID at the referee for calling for the bell as Heyman shouts obscenities at the ref. Strowman turns around, pissed. He shows no mercy, and scoops the wounded Lesnar up, slams him, drags him out of the ring, up the ramp... hurls him through the display panels on the stage to SPARKZ, and BRAUUGRRHHHHGHHHHs to close the show as Heyman looks on in horror. (99)

Notes about the show:

Most of these differences were probably expected. (Though I assume most people expected me to just have Neville win-- I think there is actually some potential for Heel Enzo though so I'm running with it a bit) What's weird is I didn't expect the main event finish, in that in booking the show and choosing the winner as Strowman, Brock Lesnar tried to creative control block me as he refused to lose.

Now, if I felt this was realistic I might've just taken it gracefully, but I know there are ways to (possibly) "trick" your way around this without the screwjob finish by just not picking a winner and giving booking modifiers to the one you want to win. So I set Strowman to dominate, Strowman to be kept strong, Strowman to be protected, the match to end via stoppage, and just left the winner blank. I actually had an alternate finish and way to play out the storyline in mind for this if it flipped the other way, which is what I was expecting as Strowman was still a good 20 overness lower than Lesnar, but the game chose Strowman to win, so I ain't complaining.

I'm almost disappointed it worked, cause I felt like that could've been an interesting way to go with it too-- probably would've been less expected as well. But I do think this is the better way than the alternative I had in mind in any case (the ref screws Strowman by calling for a stoppage cause Strowman is in a Kimura for a long time and isn't fighting back, Strowman flips out, destroys Lesnar, and the feud continues till next month+ as Lesnar takes some time off injured, where I can hopefully build Strowman's overness to take the title off of him then)

Raw September Week 4 2017

Paul Heyman starts the show. His client is absent. He shouts about how Kurt Angle's reckless management and poor referee selection has caused his client to lose a match he never should've lost, and to suffer injuries he should've never suffered... and he is coming with the intent to SUE! Kurt comes out and tries to call him down-- Heyman is having none of it, and says Kurt should prepare legal counsel! Just then BRAUGHHHH!!! Strowman marches to the ring... Heyman starts to cower and shout at Kurt to get security... Strowman scoops Heyman up and hits him with a Running Powerslam. Kurt is like "what the hell was that?"-- Strowman grabs the mic to reply-- "Legal Counsel."-- and leaves. (96) After the break, backstage, Strowman demands competition for his title tonight... Kurt is about to respond, when Seth Rollins shows up and says he'll be the competition. Kurt approves. The match is on. (83)

Enzo Amore d. Ariya Daivari. Again winning with via cheating after losing most of the short match (59) Enzo runs down the cruiserweight division, saying how great it is that the Cruiserweight title is relevant now that he has it, getting the very first match on Raw.. a deranged looking Neville comes out and assaults him. (64)

Alicia Fox d. Dana Brooke (29) Alexa Bliss says she's beaten everyone blah blah... Alicia Fox is still ringside, she rants and raves some such about winning a match. Alexa pretends(?) to ignore her. Mickie James comes out, says it's time for Alexa to pay up for that help she gave her back on Smackdown against Becky-- it's time for a title shot! Alexa blows her off, saying Mickie doesn't deserve a match-- she's never even on TV or winning! Emma comes out, something something hashtag. (48) Mickie James d. Emma. Alicia is still on a mad rant ringside throughout the match. (50)

Miz is backstage, giving The Miztourage a pep talk about "branding" and how they really need to distinguish themselves. The Miztourage head to the ring and say they're here to take the Tag Division by storm. They issue an open challenge. (59) Titus WorldWIDE's Tozawa and Apollo Crews answer, and defeat them easily (48)

Finn Balor d. Jason Jordan (71) After Balor has left, Bray Wyatt rambles about how this is not over between him and Balor, he's just a man! Just then, Goldust appears on the tron. He explains how Bray Wyatt has opened his eyes... without a cast... he was just a man. But... the golden age... was about to begin. The lights go out, the ring is illuminated with Gold, and Goldust is behind Bray. He assaults him!(69) A match starts. Goldust continues his momentum going in. Bray puts up some good resistance, but Goldust hits the Curtain Call for the win. (56) Goldust crawls over Wyatt with a mic... he says he will make Wyatt fitting of the role of leading man... the lights go off, and they're both gone. (70) (Goldust's Cult Leader (Weird) Gimmick has gotten an initial rating of Great)

Gran Metalik and Lince El Dorado are in the ring for a match. Gallows and Anderson come out, say these masked cruiser NERDS don't deserve a match, an impromptu tag match begins. (42) Gallows & Anderson d. Metalik and Dorado, who look respectable but the match is not terribly long. (58)

Miz TV with Roman Reigns. Miz wants to know how Roman felt when the audience cheered him getting beat up last night, goes slightly sith lord on him-- eventually the topic becomes how Roman felt about Ambrose and Rollins losing, and how the SHIELD sucks, and Sheamus comes out for a fight. (83) Roman Reigns d. Sheamus (75)

Ambrose approaches Rollins backstage, commends him for his impulsive lunacy and says he wish he'd jumped on the opportunity first, and wishes Rollins luck (73) Strowman d. Rollins to retain in a high speed quality Raw main event, complete with gratuitous amounts of Strowman running into things and a no BS clean win. (77)
