Apparently Ophelia is the farthest east a hurricane has ever been in the Atlantic, according to CNN. Crazy stuff.

It wasn't a particularly well-fleshed out comment (copied it verbatim, actually), but I'm guessing it refers to how far east it maintained hurricane status.
