And gave a 50 GP prize (enormous in a capped max infra + infra loss setting) to every participant if they could beat him, and then said that if Illidan wasn't fought he'd KO and injure one person on every team each week because fuck you. Basically imagine if my Ultimate Challenges event from M4 dinged you 20 infra if you lost and gave you 100 GP if you won and it'd be roughly comparable in how dumb it was.

Maui (Moana)

Maui is as seen in Moana. He comes equipped with his undamaged hook.

Abilities

Without my hook I am nothing (Passive)
- As Maui has reiterated time and time again, the source of his true power comes from his hook, given to him by the gods themselves. As such, he may not be separated from the hook by any enemy. Maui will be immune to any ability that would copy or remove his hook from his write-up.

What can I say except You're Welcome! (Start of Battle) - Once every 4 weeks, Maui will give a rousing performance of his signature song to the entire enemy team, bragging about his accomplishments while using the distraction to get into their heads. The enemy team will blindly believe everything he tells them, and will come to battle thinking that Maui is an immortal god with limitless power. They will not necessarily maintain this notion if the events of the match prove otherwise.

Upgrades

Character Upgrade:
You're Welcome! becomes so powerful that nothing will shed the fear of Maui from his opponents. Regardless of what happens in the match, they will continue to believe Maui is actually all-powerful (even if he dies).

I AM MOANA! (Start of Battle) - Once every 3 weeks, choose two mercs: one female and one male. The mercs can be from your team, your opponent's team, or a combination of both. The two mercs may not under any circumstances bring harm to each other and must stay within 5 feet of each other at all times. Their positioning is determined by the female: she may move freely, whereas the male with be tethered to her by an invisible force. If they are on opposite teams AND the last two left alive, they may attack each other, though the tether will remain.

Terrain

Te Ka - The island that was once the goddess Te Fiti, before her heart was removed. Now the island is mostly sunken in the middle of the ocean, with the magma demon Te Ka guarding it. Te Ka will attack any merc on sight. Both teams of mercs will start on opposite sides of the island, each on individual sailboats.

As for Mewtwo, I'm thinking for the purposes of TV/Film Mercs he'd be a 6, not a 7, and that he can't be rostered with human/superhuman mercs, with superhuman removed upon upgrade (adding more than that seems unnecessary given how many human/superhuman mercs there are)

Kenshiro (Fist of the North Star)
Heroic Male Superhuman
5/week

Kenshiro is as seen in the Fist of the North Star anime series and movies (no manga feats) with all displayed techniques except for Musou Tensei.

Abilities

You Are Already Dead (Start of Battle) - Kenshiro's most well-known ability is giving base villains a gentle tap to the pressure point and leaving them to think about what they've done for their next few seconds of life. Every five weeks he may demonstrate this on any Villainous enemy merc of his choosing. From the start of the fight that merc will be on a timer to violent head explosion, the exact number of minutes being their upkeep minus the recharge of any abilities they have used that day (so if a 5 a week used an every 4 week ability, they would go in with 1 minute until explosion. If they used no abilities, they would have 5 minutes until explosion. Treat timers of zero or less as an instant explosion at the start of battle). The enemy will be aware of what is going to happen but may not prevent it.

Insert Name Here Technique (Pre-Battle) - Ken's lesser known talent is somehow having an appropriate technique on hand to finish off any given situation, complete with nifty subtitle outlining the killing blow. Every week he may pass this talent on to a preselected ally of his choosing. Whenever that ally is about to make a fatal strike, time will pause for the entire fight as a subtitle magically appears in the air naming the final attack about to come. Time will then resume as normal and the attack will proceed.

Upgrades

New Ability

ATATATATATATATATATATA (Start of Battle) - While preemptively hitting someone about a hundred times while armed with head gibbing pressure point strikes is a tad unfair, every three weeks Kenshiro may skirt this issue by passing on a little of his training to a preselected ally. That ally will select a random enemy Villain, and if both are rostered, the fight will begin with the ally pummeling the enemy with an unblockable punch barrage for (x) amount of seconds (determined by a seconds roll at the ability's declaration) plus one.

Terrain

Hokuto Renkitoza - The dilapidated dojo where Kenshiro fought Raoh.

Wesley Gibson (Wanted)

Wesley Gibson is as seen in the 2008 film Wanted. He comes equipped with his Flyswatter Beretta 92 handgun, CornerShot and Fantasy Sniper Rifle.

Abilities

This is me taking back control (Start of Battle)
- Once every three weeks, Wesley will establish himself as the best assassin around, arriving to battle before anyone else. He will take as much time as he needs to become acquainted with the terrain and independently determine the optimal spawn points for each member of his team. He cannot alter the opponent's spawn, though he will know precisely where it is.

Upgrades

New Abilities:
I don't want this person dead, fate does! (Peacetime) - Once every three weeks, the name of another comic-originating merc will be given to Wesley. He will attempt to assassinate them, with his chance of success being 100% minus the target's upkeep times 10% (ie. 90% for 1/week, 30% for 7/week). If the attempt is successful, Wesley will cleanly one-shot them, KOing the merc.

FUCK YOU (Trigger) - If Fate fails and Wesley's team faces the team of his target, Wesley will make things personal, breaking the very rules of Mercs itself. He will come to battle in his Killer Suit and will maintain any feats from the Wanted comic series.

Terrain

Chicago - The entire city of Chicago, as it appears in the film Wanted. The enemy team will start in Cross' office building, while Wesley's team will start in his apartment.

She's basically Carrie (to the point the show even makes the comparison) except with less higher end feats and probably more control. Still, there's something to said for "Can break the skulls of a room full of mooks by thinking really hard"

Heroic Male Human
3/week (Pure Support)

Abilities

Leap (Trigger) - Dr. Sam Beckett's only goal in life is to hop about to various people, try to set right what once went wrong, and maybe just make it home at some point. In Mercs terms, if an enemy merc uses a damaging or KO ability on Sam's team, Sam will body hop and take possession of them for the week's fight.

Unfortunately you can only meddle with things so much, and that enemy/Sam will still be out to win for their side. However their personality, skills and knowledge will be exchanged with that of Sam Beckett, and any powers they might have will be left up to Sam to decipher. Sam may Leap once every three weeks.

Upgrades

Ability Upgrade

Once Sam possesses an enemy, he may optionally choose to steal them completely over to his team's side for an additional week's recharge. The same caveats will apply as to Sam's (lack of) knowledge of their skillset. He may however choose to be accompanied by Al, a hologram that only he can see and hear. Al is free to offer somewhat cryptic hints as to what Sam's possessed merc is capable of, but may not otherwise participate in the battle.

Wilson Fisk is the best example of that

"Young man, life is not a fairy tale. Not everyone deserves a happy ending." (Start of Battle) - Fisk may control the criminal underworld, but his grasp doesn't extend to Heroics. Rather than putz around with Heroic abilities, every three weeks Fisk may abduct a Heroic merc of his choice from the opposing team. At the start of the day's battle, that merc will be disarmed of all weapons and locked in a standard sized interrogation room that will somehow spring up on the terrain, along with Fisk. No other parties may break into the room, and either Fisk or the opposing merc may only leave by incapacitating the other. The targeted merc will magically reclaim their weapons upon leaving the room.

Sharknado (Sharknado)
Villainous Genderless Otherworldly
5/week

The Sharknado is as seen in Sharknado, a huge waterspout carrying many flingable sharks. Dispersing the waterspout will defeat the Sharknado.

"It's a Sharknado!" (Passive) - Being a homicidal waterspout, the Sharknado will follow no plans from its team, only its own whims. It won't intentionally harm its team however.

Global Swarming (Start of Battle) - Every four weeks, the dreaded Sharknado may get even more creative. In addition to its usual arsenal of sharks, the waterspout may choose to suck up all tier eligible Beasts from both teams. None of these Beasts may be rostered normally that day, but rather will begin the battle stuck inside of the Sharknado. They may be thrown about at its whim, after which the Beasts may join the fight as normal for their respective teams.

Upgrades

Ability Upgrade

The Sharknado may choose which individual Beasts it wants to take with it that week.

Terrain

Los Angeles - The seawater flooded city as seen in Sharknado.

Leatherface (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre)
Villainous Male Human
2/week

Leatherface is as seen in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre series, carrying his trademark chainsaw and a meat hammer.

Gender Confusion (Passive) - While a Male for ability purposes, Leatherface also has an...interesting habit of dressing up as a woman. Any abilities that could target a Female can also target Leatherface. However any enemy Merc using a Seduction ability on Leatherface will immediately realize what they've done and refuse to be rostered that battle as they spend the week regretting their choices in life.

Dinner Party (Pre-Battle) - Every four weeks, Leatherface may get all of the squabbling mercs together, sit them down and have a nice goddamn dinner. He will choose the lowest upkeep merc on the enemy team (ties being randomly decided amongst that upkeep), KO them and serve them up as delicious barbeque. At the beginning of the week's battle, the enemy team will realize what they just had for dinner and will begin the fight vomiting profusely, even if they would ordinarily be incapable of vomiting.

Upgrades

Ability Upgrade

The enemy entree may be selected randomly from all enemy mercs. This upgrade may be taken again to preselect the enemy.

Terrain

The Sawyer House - A 6000 square foot plantation house with all areas accessible, though it can't be escaped.
