Polygon has an article about the 'controversy', except the article itself lacks any real substance other than mentioning the bullshit Jontron previously did as opposed to actual outcry about his inclusion in the game.

I never even understood why it was such a big deal. It honestly feels more like a vendetta against JonTron than anything. His comments weren't that bad. Especially when compared to actual celebrities and more popular YouTubers. But not only that but this happened in like April and there's been like nothing else since then so idk what the problem is

The developer hasn't said a peep on the issue since it blew up in April. Some see that as a tacit acceptance of jontron's views.

I think if they put out a statement saying they don't condone his politics, and gave a reason why the lines should remain in, than this wouldn't be as big an issue.

Not sure what the size or location of the team has anything to do with it. I'm sure they have a PR or marketing guy. It's their job to keep stuff like this from cropping up.

Even if the developers secretly condone JonTron's words thats no reason for me to boycott. People are allowed to think what they want regardless of how objectively wrong it may be.

Now if they were like aggressively terrible or something like Jeffrey Star for example, then I would start boycotting. Because opinions are opinions but directly attacking people because of them is inexcusable in my eyes.

It's a general unspoken rule that a game and its development staff don't reflect the views of their individuals until proven otherwise. No statement has to be made on it. That doesn't mean it can't be made, it's just not required.

I mean, JonTron is a piece of shit. So is Kirbopher, who is also in this game. Neither influenced my decision to not buy the game (it's mostly lack of interest as opposed to objecting anything in particular)

(Kirbopher's a piece of shit for different reasons though.)

Yooka-Laylee's problem felt like Playtonic was trying too hard to make something new while being like BT. So it felt messy as a result and they didn't even pick the right Banjo game.

Based on what I've seen A Hat in Time seems like it's trying to be it's own thing. So it might be better, but I can't say for certain

Huh, I was just trying to put into words what my exact problem with YL was and then I read your post and those were exactly my feelings. Thanks for helping me sort that out in my head!

I guess I'll have to look into this hat game a bit more and see if I like what it's trying to be
