Oh, but you already weren't allowed to check a person's immigration status... only immigration services was. A lot of police/employers were using immigration status as a form of intimidation when they aren't legally allowed to act on it in the first place.

Sanctuary cities/states are ridiculous. Illegal immigration is a problem and this only makes it worse. Clearly this was done not in the best interest of the state or country, but as a jab to the current administration..

Agreed. The process should be easier. But at the same time, I think we need to be more selective and enforce the laws that exist. This would include finding and deporting those that do not belong.

Yea, that would be a problem. Mexico's entire infrastructure and economy would collapse. Resulting in world wide panic. But people don't immigrate for fun.

yeah when my family came over, one of my ancestors was held up at Ellis island and forced to learn english and if he couldn't they where gonna ship his ass back to Germany.

I love how people think what our ancestors did should have any bearing on what we do or don't do. I didn't ask to be born in this country (glad I was but moot point) I just was.

now I do think the process should be easier, I don't give a rats ass if they know our history, or can recite our constitution (they don't even make OUR high school kids do that anymore) all I care about is, do they have a criminal record? do they have a basic grasp on our laws? are they at least willing to make an attempt to learn our language? and finally are they going to be able to be a productive member of society? if all of these check out let em in.
