Losing more and more content, continually raising the price.

It's always been worth it (IMO) but a couple more of these price hikes and I'm going to unsubscribe.

It's worth it when you split with two other people who let you use their Amazon Video and Hulu accounts. Three streams for the price of one.

I'll keep it til it hits $15 a month

Unless they get way more content

You'd think they would drop the price after losing Disney and Fox and tons of other shit.

it's really losing its luster

kinda sucks how things are going, you're gonna need like 10 different accounts to watch everything you want because everyone's going to start their own service

tbf, they were kinda forced into this position. Everyone wants to start their own streaming services, and so they're not letting Netflix renew the stuff they own, and the only card Netflix has to play is to start their own shows to keep afloat.

Come to think about it. I really don't watch anything on them anymore. I just want Youtube on my TV. I really need to let them go.

I doubt paying Seinfeld 100 million for what, one completely average special was a good move to be honest, but maybe it made them a lot of money.

this

the funny thing is at this point that i actually started watching cable again because it's easier to watch cable than it is to subscribe to like 5 different streaming services just to keep up on the good stuff out there. better to just turn on the cable box and watch whatever's on TV rather than go through a million services to find one mediocre thing to watch

I think there are enough people who would keep their subscription solely for season 2 of Stranger Things to keep them profitable. Lol.

I remember when that used to be included in the base price. Then they apparently started charging you more if you want to stream on multiple devices?

It's feeling lackluster for sure but still better than Hulu and Amazon prime. Hulu is where I go to watch a couple shows Netflix doesn't have. Amazon prime has like 2 things I like to watch.

That being said...stranger things, marvel series, narcos, oitnb, house of cards, bloodline, ozark, the crown, a series of unfortunate events, American vandal, master of none, atypical, glow, Bojack, f is for family, castlevania, black mirror, comedy specials are all worth to keep Netflix

I recall a few years back, I tried watching something at the same time as my brother (which I'd done many times before) and it said something along the lines of "another device is already streaming". He checked online, and there was apparently a price change. Iirc, it's cheaper if you only pay for one device, and more expensive if you pay to stream multiple devices at the same time.

I'm not 100% sure if they stuck with this change, as I just use his account anyways.

At least in Canada, it's $10 or so for two simultaneous devices. A dollar less for a "basic" service with only SD and I think it was one device. Pay a bit more for up to four devices.

I've paid $6 for cold brew.

So if this is once a month and an amazing coffee? Sure. I use Netflix like everyday

I mean...

I don't think you're stupid with your money so I don't mean this seriously for you personally, but people who feel that way should really probably look at how much money they're spending on subs every month

I guess maybe I'm a bit unique because I subscribe to news publications like the NYT (which I guess no one does any more) but I probably saved more than $50/month by getting rid of sub services I like but don't use enough to justify

edit - I use hulu and netflix enough to justify having both, though, I kinda wanna pay more for no commercials on hulu lol

So you appreciate it's not about whether you have $10 or not but whether you feel Netflix is worth $120 a year.

It's what happened to Steam. People gravitate towards convenience, but then companies want their own slice and make everything way more complicated than it was before

And then they wonder why pirating is so prevalent

I never thought I'd see the day that I'd prefer Amazon Prime Video over Netflix.

APV is perfect for us because we rotate out different channels every now and then. We also just started paying for streaming TV through Spectrum. $20/month for 50 live channels. We got tired of picking things to stream and wanted a cheap Live TV option.

Could you elaborate on that? I have Charter too and only really pay for it for about 5-6 channels.
