Is it because we are usually stronger and we can defend ourselves? or is it because women are not as noisy as men and don't do it as often?Any decent looking man gets catcalled a couple of times a month.

I think's its probably because since men are usually stronger most of us never feel in danger when cat called and in the case of women since they are usually smaller and physically weaker they may feel threatened or in possible danger

Yeah I'm going with "because we like it." I've honestly never heard of a guy who didn't take it as a compliment. To be fair, it's still objectification and it's still disrespectful, but as a man I personally appreciate the rare times when I'm objectified.

@SushiSquid but what if hypothetically women were on average larger and stronger than us and man rape was more common than female rape? would you feel a bit more scared?

objectification
bdktfke()n/
noun
1. the action of degrading someone to the status of a mere object.
"the objectification of women as sexual possessions"

99.99% of the time it's not objectification, it's effectively shouting "You have awesome physical characteristics, I'm attracted to that!" which I can't imagine being in any way disrespectful, though you can easily argue it's inappropriate.

I actually once had an old, unattractive woman next to me in line complain about her pains and then say directly to me, "Don't get old; stay young and cute." It did feel rather creepy.

Catcalling is a specific action, it's not just hitting on.

But I have been slightly hit on by my gf's grandma, which still creeps me out.

You're asking what things would be like if all gender rolls in the situation were reversed. You already know the answer, because we know that women are mostly creeped out when men do this. As a man, I'm not creeped out or frightened, because of course I'm not physically intimidated by almost any women. That is not the case for women. The kind of guy who "compliments" women on their appearance out on the street is too often also the kind of guy who might sexually assault or rape them.

It's pointing out that they are attractive, validation of effort put in to their appearance. Objectification is treating somebody like they aren't actually human, like they're a commodity for trade or their thoughts don't matter.

It's painfully obvious so I don't get how you can't make a distinction.

They really aren't. Being socially aggressive doesn't mean you'll be physically aggressive and vice versa, it's more an issue of awareness. Men aren't aware women are intimidated as it's pretty standard for men to be aggressive with eachother without intending to be threatening or dangerous.

Funnily enough I do!

Awareness of how people behave is a major part of being able to communicate with people in an agreeable way. Perhaps if you didn't shutdown and invalidate people, you'd be able to talk to girls.

Legit question here although I doubt I'm going to get any other answer then self pity. If a girl was interested in you what kind of relationship could you possibly offer being unemployed and living with your parents?

Some dudes are really oblivious to obvious signals thoufh. I used to be way dumber about it but as you get older you pick up on stuff like that a lot more. That and older women have a tendency to be less shy about it

Bit of a weak excuse considering how short term a relationship can be propped up by charm alone. Once the relationship starts though, you do have to shore up your long term competence.

All I see from some posters is how desperately they want a gal to notice them but even if by some miracle that did happen it would be shot dead before it's even started because they haven't fixed their own demons before inviting someone into their life.

short generic answer? because men don't mind it. I mean i've been used for sex once when I was legit looking for a relationship, I was upset for all of like 2 seconds when I realized what happened but then my mind went straight to "ehh I had sex, so its cool"
