Anyway just did my first Frontline missions... and it was a BLAST!

And I am COMPLETELY CONFUSED at what the bloody hell was going on at all times, but I got 4 Commendations as a Healer so I couldn't have sucked too much. For some reason I get shunted to Immortal Flames though, is that because I did Duty Roulette?

Our investigation of the Masked Man Lahabrea brought us from South Thanalan to South Shroud and back again, but finally we're getting somewhere! Apparently a bunch of youths in Little Ala Mhigo have been in contact with a masked man, and they're hostile enough to ambush me in a secluded place. When a young woman came back after being raped by the Corpse Brigade, they've had ****ing enough and hightailed it out of there. We follow their trail to the Amallj'aa stronghold's outskirts and...




The battle was intense because of my idiocy. See, I was playing a White Mage, and I decided to heal every up to full capacity... which promptly had EVERYBODY redirect their attentions towards me. That was hell.



Anyhoo the leader of the youths told us that the masked man informed them that with enough crystals they can summon their god Rhalgr, so they tried to steal Crystals from the Lizards... who promptly discovered and slaughtered most of them. That's about it though, and we return to Minfilia with out findings so far, which further confirms her suspicions since it's the basic MO of Ascians.

And also that Minfilia is bored out of her mind when there's no Primal threat, so she sends us out to investigate deaths in the North Shroud.



Where everyone's faces were torn to shreds.

Eugh.

Absolutely. When you do a dungeon, the biggest chunk of experience comes from beating the last boss (when you do a dungeon that you outlevel this experience is increased dramatically to compensate for how comparatively little experience you get from the rest of the dungeon). When you do a Duty Roulette for the first time per day this last, big chunk is doubled. Plus, if you do a roulette with a job at or above level 50, 60, or 70 you get rewarded with additional tomestones for gear. Roulettes are very much worth it and (time permitting) you should do them every day.

So the XI event is that Iroha is out and about in Eorzea except she lost her memory, and only remembers that she was tasked with her master to finish her technique the Amatsu:Kyori. After helping her slay some crabs she gets a glimpse of this handsome feller:

... now that I think about it... I think I quit around the time that Shadow Lord events start popping up in Exvius and Record Keeper. Maybe I'll quit this game around this event's timeline.

Anyway, after reporting our findings to Minfilia, she has some horrible news of our own

Thankfully only Titan is up and about (LMAO the Sahagin and Leviathan aren't speaking bit. What happened there?). Also Y'shtola sounds... different that how I'd imagine her. More severe. In any case, there's little anyone knows of Titan, since the records of the heroes who beat him back last time are incomplete, and they've long since disbanded. Plus the Kobolds aren't talking, unlike the Sylphs. Most of the Scions are mobilized to alert the Grand Companies and Aplhinaud, as well as compile what little they know of Ifrit, while me and Y'shtola rendezvous with the Maelstrom

Anyway, let's tackle the XI quests first. Iroha's training keeps escalating until we fight this thing



Behold Serket (not Vriska or Aranea). All it does is attack, stab me with paralyzing tail, and Venom lob AoE attack. Simple, but really durable. More memories resurface, regarding her companions and those who sacrificed themselves, until she finally realizes that she is in another world. However, before she goes home, she has to unleash her ultimate technique against a worthy enemy



These guys. So Dread Dragon is completely invincible until Spotter is dead. Luckily Iroha can distract the dragon whilst I take car of Spotter who does normal Eyeball things like Gaze. DD has a tail attack, so I went **** it and just attacked him from the side until I Aggro'd him enough for him to attack me directly. The fight wasn't anything to talk about despite the pretty neat design. Afterwards, Iroha leaves for Limsa Lominsa, presumably for a final talk before leaving.

Main Quest... ehh... long story short, we had to convince the remaining Company of Heroes to divulge their information on how they beat Titan. Mostly by proving myself and providing banquet items. I'll just post the highlights until otherwise noted.



This jackass was a fake that used the name to be hired as a farmhand of all things. We ended up having a competition to determine who is speaking the truth, with the one who destroyed their boulder first being the winner. Large Boulder is me because holy **** this guy. Not only that, he paralyzed me, threw an AoE attack my way, used a Bomb to shatter the boulder faster, AND says I'm disqualified if I touch him. And the Miller lets him. Jeez.







For the last one the dungeon is straightforward, talk to friendly Goblins to get keys, kill stuff, try not to get lost on the way to the boss, Aiatar the Storm Dragon. The miniboss I forgot to take pictures of because HERE is when I keep getting cutoff from my connection. Stupid ass internet >_>

Anyway, Aiatar's gimmick is that he can spawn poison pools which damages us AND heals it when either of us stands on it. As a tank I have to move his ass away from them as well as dodge his super powerful Dragon Breath attack.



That's the lot of them





So yeah all that running around getting Adamantoise Eggs (boiled), Worm Meat, super stinky Goblin Cheese (souffle), and Bacchus Wine was for my benefit in case I succeeded. Was it worth it?



Evidently so

You probably saw a video of Titan Hard or Extreme modes. Both are 8 man.

All 3 'normal modes' of the first 3 story primals (the ones in leveling ARR) are 4 man. After you finish the original ARR though, trials are exclusively 8 man.

First up, see this move, landslide? MOVE THE **** AWAY FROM IT. Otherwise THIS is the result of getting pushed off the platform and not being allowed to revive



Yeap. Wiped once and had to do the fight again.




He also has this Jump attack move (really? This fatass?), and as far as I can tell the further away you are from the center of the area, the less damage it deals... but too far and you get knocked off the platform



He can sometimes do that Gaol thing that traps people inside some rocks which we have to destroy. Also halfway he reveals Titan's Heart, which we have to destroy ASAP otherwise it powers up his next attack, Might of Earth.






After that, it's a straight up brawl until...

Long story short, the Garleans attacked the Scions, killing almost everyone there,though Tataru and Papalymo as well as Minfilia were taken hostage. The Sylph didn't make it though...



... though it seems to have bitten the Imperials in the ass as the Sylph has sworn a blood oath against them. Ramuh on our side?



With the Waking Sands destroyed, we relocate to a Scion sanctuary at a Church, where we're attended to by this guy who lost his memory.

Yeap. As it turns out HE'S Biggs and Wedge's master (oh damn I hope they survived), and Alphinaud's arrival helped him remember his life. Our next mission is to go to Coerthas Highlands and look for the Airship Enterprise which was lost during the chaos 5 years ago.

But ugh I don't think I can get anything done today, I keep getting disconnected, and in the middle of Coerthas as a White Mage is a bad place to be idle.

Anyway just wanted to add that the reason we're looking for the airship Enterprise is because we need it to pierce through the tornado barrier of the most bloodthirsty Primal, Garuda, who the Ixal have summoned. And to make matters worse, at her current state she's stronger than Ifrit and Titan... yikes.

Forgot what her mechanics are actually. Something about feathers?

That's actually good if they're waiting until you are as low as possible to heal you, so you're probably wrong.

You shouldn't be healing unless absolutely necessary, as it takes time away from doing DPS, which makes the whole thing faster.

Unless they're just being lazy and not doing DPS either and you're almost dead, but I have almost never seen that.

So long as the tank doesn't die, they're doing their job correctly.

That's the thing, while he's not healing he's not doing a goddamn thing, and everybody else was shouting at the guy to do SOMETHING, and he refused to do anything but Medicas (this ain't FFRK goddammit). Then they found out he didn't bring Esuna either right when we fought the Giant Worm in the Oasis.

We ended up wiping and disbanding afterwards.



MQ-wise all is not well with the Ishgardians as suspicions fell on one of their Great Houses, who turned out to be innocent. So we crashed their outdoors trial and forced the real Heretic out in the open

Good news: the stubborn brother finally approves of me as a White Mage!



Bad news: Curious Gorge suffered a blow to his pride/heart when the people we saved called him a monster. Yeah...

Yeah if you open up the social tab and right click someone it has an option to "Vote Dismiss"

Then you select a reason like harassment, AFK, offline, etc. But 'kicked for difference in playstyle' has held up before when taken to mods so you can basically kick someone for whatever.

Also forgot to mention the other instance, in this case I was playing a Healer when out of ****ing nowhere, one of the DPS disappeared right at the start of the Sunken Temple Of Qarn. How that happens I dont know, but after the first fight the Tank left so I just turned around and left the place as well

Dunno why though, Qarn doesnt seem to be that annoying for a DPS. Just step on the Doom removal plate, destroy Titan-Lites Soulstone first, destroy the Ankh things the boss drops, and keep up your rotation
If anything the Tank and a Healer has the tough job what with forcing the stone heads to move to the switch and the Healer has to watch out for the Temple Guardian turning around and trying to slam him instead of the Tank

To the surprise of no one at all, the Inquisitor that's been executing people left and right turned out to be a Heretic



And also a Dragon. Fake dragon glamour anyway. As an overgrown dragon Guillame has the standard AoE lob attack. Throughout the fight various Basilisks and Wyvern joined the fight, but nothing my Warrior can't handle. Dude's a ****ing beast of a tank. After "Guillame" is dead, we finally gain permission to search for The Enterprise in...



The Stone Vigil, long abandoned by the Ishgardians and taken over by the dragons. And boy howdy was it infested by it! AoEs all around! I had a hell of a time keeping the Tank alive, and one unlucky no freebie Cure II during a VERY chaotic hallway fight later I accidentally caused a wipe. Whoops. Also clicked Medica instead of Cure III didn't help matters either



Our first miniboss Chudo Yugo didn't do anything interesting from what I recall. But that's okay being a dragon is cool enough



This guy though, he pelts tornadoes everywhere and sometimes damages everybody.



Every once in awhile a BIG dragon flies near the cannons here, which we have to use to knock him down.





Cid Garlond: master of the understated. While Cid and Alphinaud sneak around the overgrown lizard, and old friend drops by...



Goddammit Lahabrea you ****ing troll. Says he wants to see our fight against Garuda but sets off the dragon anyway.



Sorry this was the only pic I got, but the fight got hectic fast. Aside from his standard beating down attacks on our tank, he sometimes deals a target all attack, and sometimes turns around and lobs a paralyzing attack at us. He also sometimes takes off and does a bombing raid on the battlefield. Jegus, if he can do that why does he even bother landing and taking us on the ground?




Isgebind apparently held a Crystal and now only one is left.



In any case, pupa's gotta FLYYYYYYYY

After landing in Gridania though, we found out that The Enterprise is basically a hunk of junk in its current condition, and is in no shape to pierce Garuda's Maelstrom shield. Looks like we'll need to upgrade it.

Another question, if I keep doing Duty Roulette for a Level 50 character, will I keep getting Tomestones, or is there a cap?

You can hold up to 2,000 poetics at a time. There is no cap on how many you can obtain otherwise though.

The 'endgame' tomestones (Creation, currently) are capped to 450 per week though. But that won't matter til you're 70 (also it'll probably not be Creation when you get there anyway since they get changed on even patches)

On another note why is the Adventurer in Need thingy lying to me? It keeps saying Tanks are needed but it keeps making me wait, but when I enter as a White Mage I almost instantly get slotted in?

So one day (today) I returned to the Twin Adders when I noticed that a blue quest marker appeared. Turns out a Balloon crashed in the North Shroud, and after scavenging the debris, we meet these guys:

Should I just leave these guys alone and focus on the Main Quest? Or is there a really great reward for doing it? Other than FULFILLING OUR DREAMS?

Those are Beast Tribe quests. There's a non-hostile group for each race (including the Sylph) that you can complete quests for in return for mostly cosmetic rewards and access to special shops. I probably wouldn't prioritise them over other things though. The Ixal one in particular is crafting only so you ideally want to be level 50 in a DoH class before bothering with them.

This dumbass "scholar" named Voyce went missing while on an assignment at Little Solace as a researcher into the Slyphs. Turned out he lied about his credentials and turned out to be little more than a Slyph fanboy. An ill-informed one at that, since he had no idea how dangerous the Turned ones were. They asked questions about the Chosen One (in hindsight, with the Slyph-speaks ending in one, this one should have been obvious) before getting scared off when Zhien appeared and they recognized them. Aww yeah his reputation is growing.

I'm not sure what the progression for the Slyph quests are like

At least with the Ixals we slowly make our dirigible airship, but for this we're... gathering clues on the location of the Chosen One I guess?

Boss fight is basically a gauntlet of mooks, though by the 3rd wave Siren starts doing healing AoE spells that we have to lure enemies out of, then by the 5th one she sends out music bubbles that explode if I get too near. We can't damage her at all, so all we can do is kill her minions until she runs out and runs away.

And this is getting ridiculous. First the Corrupted Crystal in Thanalan was wrong because we never told them that we don't want a Wind one, then the one in La Noscea was wrong because we never told them that we needed one that can cancel out a Wind barrier.
