It would be closer to 98%, because in all honesty even most of the "good games" run like shit no matter what.

I was interested in Raccoon Hero, and I found a video on YT where the guy showed them in the Steam catalogue and it was literally the same dumb basic mobile phone, and the only difference between any of them was the background image.

I've only heard of a single instance where a game was deleted out of peoples' libraries in Steam and it was because of some legal shit.

Games will be removed from the storefront but 99.9% of the time remain available in your library for download.

I'd have to double check later.

even when games are deleted from the store you still get to keep them. It's extraordinarily rare for games to get deleted out of libraries.

Was that that Motor Rock game? I think it stole assets from Rock 'n' Roll Racing or something.

Rock 'n' Roll Racing is owned by Activision Blizzard so if it stole assets from that game they should have been in such a shitstorm of legal consequence they would not be able to dress themselves in the morning.

Actually another terrible example I can think of: The Secret World (originally a buy-and-sub-to-play MMORPG, and then switched to the buy-to-play model). If you bought the game on Steam, you'd have to copy your CD Key and register it on the Funcom website to make an account for the game.

Earlier this year they released "Secret World Legends" which is a free-to-play model of the game with some updated graphics and slightly different combat mechanics. Funcom literally just updated the storepage for The Secret World into Secret World Legends, and when the game came out on Steam, everyone's copy got overwritten... and CD Keys for the original game became unavailable -_-

I was under the impression though that you needed to sell steam trading cards to other players, so I don't see how this can be used for just farming money off those, why would anyone buy random trash trading cards for games no one has ever heard of?

There are people who just buy cards for steam level because it's an investment in more cards.

It was generally making money for everyone involved but as a result customers had to sift through piles of shit.

People want a higher Steam level, for various reasons.
From an aesthetic perspective, it means they get more emoticons and crap from badge crafting.
From a practical standpoint, the higher your Steam level, the higher the rate at which you get booster packs.

Yes, we have a full-time team monitoring reports and they identified an issue that lead to the removal of some titles from a few different Steamworks accounts. These accounts were generating a lot of reports and frustration from customers and other developers. It turns out that the bad actors were all the same person operating under different accounts.

At the very least they really oughta separate this garbage out, make it like Woot. Crappy click-through manga "games" have their own storefront. VR games have their own storefront. Poorly produced indie documentaries about some Youtube personality that no one's heard of get their own storefront.

"Although trading cards typically go for as little as 25 cents,"
I'm kinda surprised Polygon reported cards selling for that high. Most of mine would sell for 3 cents at most.

They turned the trash cards into gems to buy boosters for games that have valuable cards.

Yeah. I like how Xbox had two storefronts, XBLA and XBIG. Generally speaking the difference was low budget shitware couldn't get into the arcade storefront.
