I bought Magic a bit because I love the art but I stopped. I'd rather spend my extra money on games.

no dueling network got shut down
since ygopro is a program that gets downloaded onto individual computers rather than a website on its own its pretty much impossible to stop.

for a short time they were actually topping a handful of tournaments
this was a brief window after Drulers and prophecy got hit by the banlist and there was a power void so more variety of decks were seeing play.


of course artifacts were introduced soon after and completely killed the harpies playstyle
using harpies against them was basically just giving the win to your opponent

It is, and it's about to get a gigantic update pretty soon to add a bunch of new playable characters and cards.

If you want to play meta youre going to be dropping several hundred dollars.

If you just want to get into it just spend ~50 on three structure decks you like, and cheap staples to buff it up. And play casually until you get a feel for the environment.

Dinosaurs are great, Heroes are okay, ABC (Kaiba structure) are good, and all have structure decks. Pendulum Magicians also have a structure deck, but at this point youd probably be better off buying singles from the "pendulum evolution" booster set

Ahhh, I didnt start playing again (stopped around IOC) until Duelist Alliance. Totally missed Full power drulers and spellbooks. <__<

Ah I got into it right when blue eyes was getting support. Built a full powered blue eyes deck when it was meta for a month and became obsolete after.

Spent over $800 on the deck to collect all the support cards and staples. Mistake to buy multiple box sets to pull the cards rather than buy singles

at least chocolate magician girl works in any spellcaster deck and her effect is the best of the magician girls

TCG enthusiasts, do you find Magic or Yugioh more balanced? Which has a less prominent power creep? (making old stuff obsolete)

Magic is probably more balanced, modern Yugioh is kinda hell at high level

Though I prefer IRL budget Yugioh to budget Magic

ygopro should implement a game type where you can only have cards from 10 packs you choose and all 90 are randomized according to the IRL chances, then you build out of that. Would be fun

A big issue with modern Yugioh is that since negation is so prevalent, the deck with more negates and removals will probably win, and if both decks have a lot then turn 1 probably wins because they get to set up and 1 card is not enough advantage

And a lot of people on Percy and Duelingbook refuse to play against any Pendulums despite them being fun and fair for the most part because of a couple pendulum archetypes that were once good

I don't play the card game just the video games.

I still have my old terrible Harpie deck though.
