I honestly thought the new US Survivor season would struggle to hold up against the Australian version, and it probably will (more of you should be watching the Australian series - it has been surprisingly good). I can understand why it gets a lot less discussion, as everyone is watching it at different times, but it's been damn entertaining in general.

Australian Survivor spoilers (for the latest episode - Ep 21 I think we are up to): Related to the above, and why I still think the US season may compare favourably overall is that I really fear this season is going to have a shit and fairly predictable end now and I really hope I am wrong. Thanks largely to Pete. He fucked up with his vote in the latest episode, at least in terms of good TV (I'm sure pretty much everyone would agree Luke has been fun to watch). Not that Pete had a chance of winning anyway with either side - he has been pretty invisible all season compared to most others which is not a good sign for his chances. He should have voted out Ziggy though, who is largely boring. As Michelle was voting for whoever Pete chose, there would be more hope for a decent outcome with Luke still in the game.

I see the most likely path from here being Locky going on an immunity streak (thought it may happen for a while now) and he takes Tara and probably Ziggy (assuming a final 3) to the end. I would nearly want Tara to win with that final 3, and like most of you, I can't stand Tara either (she's improved a bit, but still annoys me). Michelle, or more likely Jericho will get voted out next if Locky wins immunity - and I saw nothing in the preview to suggest he doesn't.

Hope I'm wrong and something changes soon, but the last few episodes have either been fairly predictable and/or have eliminated good players, and I get the feeling it continues that way.

I didn't get to watch yesterday's episode of Australian Survivor because SURPRISE THREE HOUR LFC ROUNDTABLE so I'll watch that one - plus maybe today's also - tonight. I too highly doubt HHH will be able to hold up to the quality that show has delivered.

I am hoping those Kidwell accusations are untrue and that he just ducked away to avoid an "incident."

Australian Survivor Episodes 20 & 21
Sarah was playing so well until she voted for Tessa without telling Michelle. All she needs to do at Tribal is whisper "Vote Tessa." since Michelle was next to her. Boom. Michelle trusts Sarah still and can't do anything to change the vote. That one lack of a move did her in. She's still an All-Star and should return sometime.

Michelle also has started playing too emotionally. She has put herself in a minority and now she cannot recover - as was proven when she couldn't convince Pete to flip. Oops! Should have taken the Natalie Anderson playbook. "Oh, I want my revenge, but I need to wait another round to get it."

Also, where did Ziggy playing her idol come from? Should have saved it for the next vote!

I continue to hate Tara. So selfish and hypocritical. She doesn't get that everyone else is also playing for themselves and thinks the world should revolve around her. They're trying to force a "winner's edit" for her down our throats. The only one at the final 7 with 0% chance was Peter. Ziggy has been too bland and forgettable and sits at very, very long odds. Michelle was too invisible early on but lately has come on strong. Tara... is just awful, but the edit keeps trying to force her to be likable. If Tara wins this season, I will not look back on it fondly despite it having been so great until this point.

My favorite Luke going just REALLY SUCKS, while my least favorite Tara staying in SUCKS EVEN MORE. I am starting to dislike where this is going. I am hoping for Jericho or Locky (it pains me to say that now that he's getting cockier and cockier) to win. Ziggy or Pete would be unsatisfying. Tara would be TERRIBLE and would instantly be at the bottom of my winner rankings. She is a bad player and a bad person. Michelle is in trouble, so I do think this ending could be predictable unless Jericho wins the next challenge (it's last year's hold-the-ring don't-drop-the-ball toy). Come on, Jericho!

Also impressed with Alan, Desi, Devon, Jessica, Joe, and Mike. Ryan and Simone seem to be potential big characters - one that's hysterical, one that's a villain. No idea who the Healers would vote out first - and that tribe is the most impressive. The Hustlers are a potential mess, especially with the twist of Ali and Patrick knowing each other, which blew the producers' minds when they found out. I can pinpoint reasons for ANY of them to be the first target, except Devon.

But this is all pre-game stuff. It may change come the actual show. Always does.

I wanted to like Jessica, the things she says are very smart, but she has that "talkative girl talking about nothing" tone which I think people may find annoying.

Is there more to Devon I'm not seeing beyond the surface obvious?

I think Roark or Jessica are winning, via process of elimination. The Hustlers are all glorious messes in their own ways, so I'm excited to watch them but there's no chance we get a winner out of them. The Heroes mostly seem too outwardly threatening based on their title alone to make it to the end, although nearly all of them will make the merge. Chrissy is a dark horse pick but I think she's slightly too kooky to ever receive the respect of the jury, especially given she's a mom figure. For the rest of the Healers, Cole and Desi don't seem smart enough to avoid getting physical threat'd, Mike doesn't seem sociable enough to overcome his Cochran/David downside, and Joe cannot win the game by virtue of Tony's existence.

I'll admit that this cast seems so physical that we might see a player that otherwise wouldn't win based on being too much of a physical threat pull it out. However, my gut says that this season plays out similarly to Kaoh Rong, and Roark or Jessica could both be our analogues to Michele.

*Ashley is the only Hero out pre-merge.
*Lauren is the first boot.

*Ben is the last remaining Hero.

Still, I am also rooting for Jericho but it doesn't look good. Tara has finalist edit, but likely losing finalist edit. I've been seeing a big bronze in her future for some time now. I can handle that, but the prospect of a forced edit where she goes higher is surely unsettling. I agree about locky and Michelle too. This season has been all pleasure and just like that fell into pain. I was hoping that if Sarah had to be lost, Luke and Jericho could regroup and recover. Now I'm left with desperation and a sense off "who the fuck do I believe in now?" If Jericho doesn't win, and he was my 3rd choice :/

That's my point. Ryan is the over-hyper super-duper fan that will play too hard, too fast but deliver hysterical commentary along the entire journey. Simone is a Full Throttle-endorsed bitch who seems to lack the necessary self-awareness and will ignore Rule #5 to the point she infuriates her tribemates, potentially making her a laughingstock. She's just going to assume people agree with her politically (hint: Ryan, Patrick, and Lauren are probably all Republicans; Ryan is the only one who has confirmed so) and trash people when they don't. It's a surefire way to make enemies fast. I see Simone as either a pre-swap boot from a likely disastrous tribe or a jury goat reviled by the jury.

As for the Australian variety...

Yeah, it all came crashing down. The ride has been so great that I hope it has an exciting climax. It sucks to see Jericho be the only easily rootable person left, given we have two blands in Ziggy and Pete, an increasingly Cocky Jocky Locky (who was so self-aware until these last two episodes, but is now getting smug), an emotional loose cannon in Michelle (as opposed to the self-entertaining loose cannon that is Luke Toki), and a selfish fucking princess in Tara. I now understand why some people here dislike Michelle so much. I don't want to see her win.

I still have hope that some of these people turn on each other, thinking "I can't beat ___." and Jericho sneaks into the final three. Five episodes left. Anything can happen. But it sucks to see most of my favorites on the jury and it could be hard to watch if Jericho goes there next. All-Star picks are Luke, Sarah, Tessa, Locky, and one of A.K., Jarrad, Jericho, and Michelle. But there are definitely more serious players this year than last and I like that a lot.

Hustlers have the least chance to produce the winner. At least three of them will be pre-jury. It might even go the "intentional Matsing" route if they lose the first two immunities, but I don't give the duo there (which we already know is most likely the pre-game of ...Ali and Patrick...) the same upsides as a Malcolm/Denise pair. They would be free agents at a swap but would not play it as well. Would not surprise me if the three pre-swap boots were Hustlers. They'd be as disastrous as the war of egos that the Brains were in Cagayan. Part of it also depends on what beach they get, because living in a shithole royally screwed the Brawns in Kaoh Rong. From what Wigler said on First One Out, the Healers have the worst beach...
