By which I mean I'm watching my characters slowly beat the shit out of him.

This is a really poorly designed fight.

Thank god for 4x speed but even with that on, it's still nearly an hour long fight.

Are you telling me the original game had a 4 hour long boring boss fight?

The first time I did this it took me 12 hours.

That was 10 years ago now.

Honestly I love Yiazmat for the sheer ridiculousness of it. If it were required I would be upset, but it's an optional superboss, so I'm glad it exists.

Depending on your setup, it could easily take 6+.

Fortunately though, you can leave the battle and as long as you're not gone for too long, he won't heal. So you can take breaks and save, you don't have to do it in one sitting.

Still effing ridiculous though.

I have him down to critical health, but I had to stop to run a bunch of errands. Will finish it tonight or tomorrow morning.

Please tell me you never once looked at a guide. Can't stand people saying he's easy while following a guide.

My 12 hours was "never following a guide". Because no guide existed at the time.

I'm using literally the same strategy for him as I used for every other boss fight, so it's definitely not optimized.

Have Ashe (my White Mage) do literally nothing but heal and revive. Have Vaan (Monk/Uhlan) stab the boss repeatedly and throw a Phoenix Down on Ashe when required, and throw Hi Ethers at her when she needs it. Have Basch (Knight/Red Mage) stab the boss with the Genji Gloves equipped.

During the fight I noticed Yiazmat can inflict Stop, so I set up a gambit on Basch and Vaan to use a Chronos Tear on anyone stopped. Esunaga from Ashe will cover the rest of the status effects.

The fight is not remotely difficult if you are decently leveled. He's just a ridiculous damage sponge.

I stabbed him good. He's dead.

Had to retreat twice to restock. Used 250 Hi-Ethers during the battle <_<

I want to platinum the game, but the bestiary looks painful, and from what I hear the 100th stage of the trial is brutal. I'm already 73 hours into the game and I'm pretty burnt out. So I don't think I'll be getting the platinum. Don't want to hunt down all those rare enemies.

I had the good sense to give up at hell wyrm the first time around after setting my gambits up, leaving the house for 4 hours and still seeing the fight was nowhere near finished when I came home.

If I wanted fights to take that long, I'd just play Monster Hunter...

Really? Because I have a strategy guide that I bought with the game on release day ten years ago in my closet right now.

Please go shovel your bullshit elsewhere.

I had the same guide. It was next to useless for Yiazmat and Omega.
